My next door neighbors haven't mowed their law at all this season so far. The grass and dandelions are probably about a foot and a half tall. The nice thing is - I don't give a crap.

Rural America FTW!

I LOVE the vacuous hypocrisy of all the "manly rugged individualists" here clutching their guns in cold-dead-hand penis envy and calling others socialists and nanny state liberals while they fucking live with an HOA!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
But... but... I don't own a gun. :( And I'm not the "rugged manly" type. Damn. I thought that insult was directed at me. :( What a let-down.

I would NEVER live in a HOA...

But... a HOA is a little different than socialism and nanny state"ism"
MOST people agreed to the HOA when they bought their house.... so they brought it upon themselves....

It's not something being forced upon them by the government....it's a private entity and a private contract....

Problem is a lot of builders buy up old houses and get permission/variances, esp after making donations to local people running for office. They then tear down houses or over build, like the bubble, and then people can only afford one of these "new" places. I know a lot of people complain but peiople don;t agree with a HOA, its just forced apon them if they want what is now in a "fair" price range.

<-- Loves house with over 1/2 acre with NO HOA. :)

Sorry. Even though I served my country, I wasn't a Marine, but a zoomie.

Your neighbors are trend-setters. With global warming, the price of gasoline, greenhouse emissions, air quality concerns, etc., it's only a matter of time until lawn mowing is outlawed.

Many states have water restrictions in place. Not mowing is just a natural extension of that.

Mowing one's lawn is a relatively recent aspiration. It's not necessary.

Hmm; doing a quick search, I found that, Canton, Knoxville, and Columbia, will fine, or throw you in jail for not mowing. Then there are counties, such as mine, that will do the same thing if you water too much, or water on the wrong day. It's a win, win for *somebody*.

Hope you enjoy dandelions in your yard too then.

My neighbor doesn't cut their yards regularly...I have a large privacy hedge though so it's not noticable. What I can see though is in my backyard 'weeds' actually above my fence line sometimes. I just spray some weed killer along it and it knocks it down for a month or two.
