Lets assume 2 guys are having issues with each other, if they both wanna and are willing to fight to end the dispute, then why not just let them ?

They go out to a field or a park in the open, then swing and scrap away. Sure, they might be some blood and maybe some loose teeth, but if each are willing to go at each other, whats the problem ?

Is it crime for 2 guys to fight each other if they want to ?

Who are they hurting besides each other ?

Why should it be the cops problem if they are duking it out ?

ATOT should have some good opinions on this...

Cops won't appreciate them fighting, even if they both want to. If the two people really want to fight eachother badly enough then they should be able to agree on a place to meet where cops won't need to get involved.

Don't do it in a public place, problem solved.

If you fight in somebody's back yard, and neither party is interested in pressing charges, then I don't think the police can or will do anything.

Edit: Or you could just go to a local gym and box.

If they're alone, go for it. Just dont b1tch if you get left behind on the ground. And have legal documents signed otherwise someone's going to sue.

If they're with a group, then things can escalate quickly and get out of hand. Cop intervention would prevent a free-for-all

I say breaking it up is the right thing to do. Chances are one or both don't have health insurance, and if one or both end up in the hospital we all end up footing the bill. ;)

I don't think they should get involved.

but maybe it is because one person could kill the other. or damage property. or there could be hell in the media if they dont break it up.

Because a street fight isn't anything like an organized fight where you have someone to stop it if a person is knocked out, seriously injured, or can't defend himself. Police would rather have it broken up than deal with the potential consequences of not stopping a fight.

One of the problem is with all these pussies that get their ass beat, then have to come back with a gun, instead of just taking that ass-beating like a man, and remembering not to "F" with that dude again.

So if cops they see a fight, the cops are pretty much obligated to break it up.

Myself, if I fought somebody who clearly kicked my ass, I'd just know that I wouldn't be accepting any offers to fight him again. Now if the guy sucker-punched me and I got incapacitated before having a chance to fight back, then I wouldn't say I outright got beat and would probably take the guy on again...and probably would want to.
Regardless, I wouldn't get beat up, then go home and get a gun to come back and shoot the guy.

I still say if it's two friends, or guys who know each other pretty well, they should just throw down in a private place, and when one guy gives up, the other stops.

The reason I asked this is because I was watching some street fight vids tonight and you always hear someone saying, "hurry up before someone calls the cops".

I hear all th stories about way back when people just went out back and duked it out 'till someone gave up or was knocked out...What happend to those days ?

Why does everything now have to be so "controlled" now-a-days ?

I'll be honest...if I see a fight, I'm not breaking it up, I'm watching..lol

...and the same if I was in the fight (been a long time), if I'm winning or losing the fight, don't break it up, it will be over sooner or later..lol :D

because killing someone, accidental or otherwise, is breaking the law.

How many times does that happen in a "common" street fight ?

2 drunk guy fighting over a girl ? ..Come-on..

2 kids in school that just don't like each other, so they meet up after school ?

No death, just crushed egos....

The last fight I was in was pretty stupid. A "friend" came to my house and asked if I wanted to go for a ride. I said sure, and went out and got into the car. I looked around and the driver was a friend of my brother's, the guy in the passenger seat was a fresh out of juvy kid that had some beef with me, a giant black guy in the back seat, a girl, my "friend" and me. Pretty tight.

Already I know I'm ******, and they're already pulling out so I wasn't about to bail. The "friend" reaches over and locks the door :)confused: Does he think I'm not capable of pulling it up?) Now we're heading up the main road and they're talking about where to take me (abandoning all subtlety). They picked out a park...right next to the God damn police station. I said "No, that's just stupid, the cops are right there. Morons." I suggested a littlish park next to an old high school so we go there. They stop in the parking lot right in front of the road (again, morons). The driver jumps out as I'm getting out and punches me. Thanks for being fair, asshole.

I figure, no problem, just 1 on 1 for now, I can handle myself. Then the guy I have "beef" with gets involved. Great, 2 on 1, I can at least put up a fight but still get my ass beat. Then my "friend" gets in on it. 3 on 1. I'm fscked now. I was thinking "Dear God I hope the big black guy doesn't get out." But he didn't. Him and the chick cheered them on.

Well, I don't really remember what was happening because I was getting hit from every direction. All I know is I remained standing (I knew if I hit the ground I was done). Some people in a car stopped on the road and said they were calling the cops. So the kids ran back to the car, and at the same time, a van pulled up and tapped their bumper, to block them in. The driver of the van got out and went towards the car, but they backed up and nearly hit her. They got out and drove off (the passenger got the plate).

They came over to me and gave me a bottle of water. Ex-military, and now paramedics. Perfect people to show up. I was literally dazed and confused. Anyways, the cops show up and get my statement, and whatever happened happened.

The point behind the story is that despite the pretenses of a fair fight to resolve an issue, it will always get out of hand if one person is losing. In this case, I would probably have ended up with a few broken bones and possibly worse had these people not broken up the "fight". Once the adrenaline starts flowing in an uncontrolled area, all the rules go out the window.

No, it's not.

In regards to a fight that was supposed to be consensual? Yes.
But that's not what he posted. Yes, in context of what we're talking about here,
killing is illegal.

Back when I was in school, what would happen is two guys fought, and when it got out of hand the friends would break it up.
I did that many times. Let the two idiots go at it until one really gets the upper hand, and then pull the winner off him before someone needs some real medical attention.

If kids are going to fight, that's the way it should be.

A fight may be wanted by both sides, but that doesn't necessairly mean a person isn't being victimized. Perfect example happened yesterday.

We had a big party at my house and these 3 guys didn't pay the entrance fee. They claimed to have paid 'The fat guy in the blue shirt and sunglasses,' but unforunately for them such a man didn't exist, at least at our party. They then start yelling at our roommates and looking to start a fight. One of them threatens my roommate and starts doing the whole chest-posturing bumping-up-against-him thing, and of course my roommate has to be up to fight because he is protecting his pride. The usual pre-fight exchanges go back and forth.

I stepped in and cooled things down until the cops got there, although the guys were trying to get me to fight too. Basically my roommate was getting yelled at at his own house and had to stand his ground, but that doesn't mean he should've had to fight and wouldn't have been a victim of assault had something happened.

Another reason to stop them early is serious, long term feuds will be the norm.
