How about we put together a thread here on ATOT (perhaps it will migrate elsewhere in due course) where we provide links to the most useful websites for specific things.
For instance, if somebody asks me for help with cell phones, I refer them to howardforums.com and phonescoop.com
If somebody asks me for help with ipods, I refer them to ipodlounge.com
If somebody asks me for help with digital cameras, I refer them to dpreview.com
If somebody asks me where to find the best deals I tell them about a site that rhymes with RatMallFit, xpbargains.com, etc.
etc.
But, of course, each of these sites can be good or be bad (i.e. is ipodlounge really reliable or useful aside from its forums? is howardforums useful for a n00b who is not used to tremendously large forums)
That's where this thread comes in... we can narrow down We can discuss their merits and their demerits in this thread until we arrive at something of a consensus.
Or everybody can just shout out ideas and I will edit them into the first post at the top of the thread 😀
But the point is that we need an FAQ sort of thread which we can refer to (and to which we can refer n00bs) quickly and easily so that their questions will be answered.
I see no reason why this should be limited only to computer stuff. It can also include stuff like mortgages, buying a car, selling a car, how to fleabay properly, etc.
But the goal is not so much to create a FAQ here but to create a series of links to FAQs/detailed websites that explain the topic in question in detail.
Who's in?????
Some suggestions to start things off:
Laptops?
Wireless Mice?
Headphones?
Wireless Headphones?
Speakers?
How to buy/sell a car?
How to buy/sell a house?
How to put together a home theatre?
How to pick out and install a car stereo?
How to "build a computer"
and the list could go on and on and on.....
As long as you guys throw out good websites i will duly and dutifully update the thread so that it turns into something of a resource.
or, everyone can just make fun of me 🙁
