Let's organize a huge rally...

Team Anandtech is clearly one of the greatest teams in the world. Already we have many high ranks among a multitude of different projects. We even own #1 in a few of them, such as D2OL and DPAD. These are great achievements, accomplished by one hell of a team.

But I believe this is still insufficient. I believe that if we have a more organized team structure we can reach #1 in many other projects. By organization I mean a system where all Team Anandtechers, from all projects, should be able to, at a moments notice, rally for a certain project. This motion would only be temporary; if a project is in need, we help bail them out. Afterwards we can all go back to our regular projects until we are further called for.

In this way, we can harness the combined power of Team Anandtech, focusing it into a laser beam that will absolutely annihilate the competition. If we are to be a TeAm, we should work and function as one. That means being able to rally ourselves at any given moment to aid a faltering project. I believe that if we do this, and alternate projects whenever one needs help, we can reach #1 in a great number of different DC projects.

This idea can work in many ways:

1. Some of us can join to create a team of users, like a team within the TeAm, that have the sole purpose of rallying for projects in need. If we can get somewhere around 200 people in this Rally Team, and occasionally migrate from project to project, it would help the overall status of Team Anandtech.

2. Or this could be less organized and people could join a rally at their own whim. A designated person would monitor the stats and vitals of various teams, and decides which one needs the most help. This person posts a rally thread, and whoever wants to join the rally can hop on in.

I?m always open to more ideas.

What does everyone think of this plan? I know there are teams out there that are very close to achieving high goals, and others that are close to being overtaken. With this plan we can help out both, and show the world the true power of Team Anandtech!

There has been a couple of miniteams that did just that . I don't know whatever happen to them.
I know some of the smaller teams like US-D and others have great sucess with rallys. One problem is that it is hard for some with large work fleets to move those machines as it can take a good deal of time to setup that many machines.

Yeah...I can see where work fleets would want to stay put, but if you get 200 people with their personal fleets that they have access to, they can still make a lot of noise in a project or two, like SoB or D2OL, where we're getting kicked in the daily stats.

Personally, for our first targets, I'd say SoB or D2OL as our first plans of attack.

Sounds like a great idea, any ideas on what projects need help right now? I guess all of them could always use some help.

I have a fleet of only 4 systems going now so it might be a pain to get diffferent stuff going on each when I change but after I had them all setup it wouldn't be too hard to change which one I'm working on.

Well... since you ask... TeAm D2OL is going to lose first place, which we've held for 17 months, in less than three days. We've ramped up production considerably, but the cows are handing us our asses on plates here and are outgunning us about 2-1 right now on a daily basis.

Check out my cow thread for more info on that

It would be a bummer to lose a first place!

hypersonic5, your idea of a rally team or mini-teams is great, and something we need so that we can counter other teams when they have an organized attack our positions.

What we really need are more new team mates, lest we weaken other projects.

Yes we need more teammates. New Blood so to speak but where do you find them ? Off topic, Front page coverage, your friends and family, people you meet on other forums, your co-workers, where else ?

Thanks for the positive feedback. About the new teammates thing, there is a thread on this board where people are brainstorming a whole bunch of ideas to get people into TA. Hopefully some of them would work.

But this Rally Team we could create, we do not need the big crunchers with lots of networked and work computers. They can stick to their project. What I want is a couple hundred people who, like me, use one or two computers and can easily switch around to another project whenever called to. That would be enough to make a difference.

If I had more time (APs and Finals), I would set up a website and things to get the Rally Team going, but unfortunately school and life take priority. Maybe we can organize this thing by means of the forums. But someone has to keep track of the people in the Rally Team, and be able to effectively communicate to them whenever a project needs help.

The Seti TeAm does something like that with their thread - Join The TA Booster Club. TaBoo Needs You.

Great idea hypersonic5!

My work fleet is gonna be a b!tch to change over...but I'll through in my XP2600 and XP1800 at home for the rallys! 😉

Exellent. It seems like almost everyone agrees that the Rally Team is a good idea. Here is what we need to get it to work:

1. A website or something where we can keep track of Rally Team members and achievments.
2. A person to evaluate the best course of action for the Rally Team.
3. A very supportive group of people 🙂

This could work out very well. Let's see if anybody is up for it. I can help to the best of my abilitiy, but I am extremely limited as to the time I can spend due to AP and Final exams, among various other things going on with my life. But I will try to contribute as much as I can.
