This story in the LA Times by Scheer has a scarry lead in. Tea Pot Dome, oh no. I'd hate to think Bush is just a big crook when he speaks so eloquently about evil.

Man, that guy sure doesn't like Bush.

All I got out of that was that the Bush administration is more favorable to big business than the Clinton administration. Big news. Also, he suggests that there could be some semi-insider trading of Enron stock by members of the Bush administration. If so, the SEC should be investigating. Otherwise, what's the beef?

doesnt surprise me. but almost all political figures have their hands meddled with one corporation/lobby group or another.

it'd be hard to prove, i would think.

If there is insider trading before the collapse of a 60 billion dollar company. Then it is huge.

If this story had been about ANY Democrat, the Republicans would be all over this like flies/maggots on sh!t. But since it's about a Republican, they turn the other cheek.

Same goes for the Democrats, they're aren't immune to this stuff either. Why don't you guys quit the Democratic/Republican bullcrap and start getting down to what matters instead of rooting for whichever team can spin up some sh!t to make it taste like Grandma's rice pudding?

Ok, now Im no Bush fan, but SHEESH! that is a tenuous connection if ever I did see one. Yes, the whole Enron deal is Fscked beyond belief, and yes, their pension plan was very restrictive and now has screwed nearly all Enron employees, but a scandal as big as Teapot Dome??? Horsesh!t!

Agreed the two parties that have a vitural strangle hold on the American political system need to have some real competition. Voting for either Democrat or Republican parties is liking asking someone to punch you with their right/left hand instead of their left/right hand and in the end you still get punched in the faced.

And what worries me the most is that why the hell do you want this to be burried?

If leaders can hide everything they do then we have Monarchy again. The basic lifeforce for democrocy is that people know what their leaders do, that is the only thing that keeps democracy going.... along with the fact that leaders need to suckup to the public to get voted.

moonbeam: heh heh ;)

i think this whole situation has tried to portray george w as someone with a spine, but i think any president under similar circumstances would do just as well as gw has in terms of spinning the issue well.

what i think will come out though, is that gw is someone withOUT a spine, just a mere puppet of corporations, the 700 club, and whoever happens to throw money and support his way. when i see gw speak about the "war" and similar issues, i see gw talking. when i see him talk about anything else besides that, i see just a face with someone else moving his mouth.

sooner or later it'll catch up with him...

That is some NASTY stuff!! Buried is what it needs to kill the smell.

How many remember the stonewall the Veep did when asked to reveal the parties he consulted with when developing the "so-called" energy policy?

Facts must be revealed, beginning with the content of Lay's private meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney to create the administration's energy policy.

>>>Other questions: Was there any conflict of interest in the roles played by key Bush aides? Political advisor Karl Rove owned as much as $250,000 in Enron stock. And economic advisor Larry Lindsay and Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick went straight from Enron's payroll to their federal jobs.<<<

There are other Enron alum in the administration, including Army Secretary Thomas White Jr., who, as an Enron executive, held stock and options totaling $50 million to $100 million.

And don't forget where Cheney came from, the fact he resided in Texas and to run, he suddenly became a Wyoming citizen? The things this group pulled to get in control of the executive branch of government clearly without approval of the majority of voters in the U.S. , is worthy of investigation.

But by whom? The same thing could be said of 98% of every elected official in every branch of government all the way down to your local dog catcher. Politics stink. This makes it really smell.

The elections arearound the corner, and the cycle will continue. Of note is the retirement of Dick Army. How well connected do you think he is to all of this? I bet he was never far from the feeding trough.

Dems will get another shot at congress and the White House soon enough. I suspect this story will have the legs it needs to give back the right wing rascals just what they gave Clinton, and they continue to vilify Senator Clinton.

It will be a very interesting election campaign. Odds are the republicans are praying for cover from this 9/11 war on terrorism. They will need cover with this crap hanging over their head.

Enron was 7th in the Fortune 500, and the execs refused to testify at a congressional hearing about their knowledge of financial iregularities as the filed for bankruptcy protection. Based on the numbers these executives have to line their pockets, I don't blame congress asking, and their refusal to comply will haunt them and the republican party.

TeaPot Dome? Yep, this will be fun to watch. ;)

Yeah, I'll sit on it and sell it for about $1M in a few years.
