Lets hear it for standardization

I found an old memo at work regarding the new offical standard for writing dates. Because we are an international company there is cofusion when writing dates like 01/11/2008. In the US that means Jan 11 2008, in the backwards world its Nov 11 2008. To Eliminate any confusion the new standard is 11-JAN-2008

What make this so awsome was the way the memo was dated. Released: 12/17/2007.

Yeah, great job. I see someone really earned their paycheck.

If the rest of the world does it one way, and we do it the other, wouldn't we be the backwards ones? ;)

2008-01-11 is the best way. That way it's trivial to sort files by date. Also, nothing eliminates confusion in an international company like using English month names when numbers will do.

Don't you mean November 1, 2008?

I'm used to 1 November 2008 because that's how I saw my dad do it for the military. Nice icon.

Like Chaotic said, the best way would be the way how Japan does it, year, month, day.

I use that format whenever possible.

Me too! Me too! 'Cept I use 2008_01_11. Primarily for file sorting as mentioned above.

For something truly half-assed look at how Garmin stores time/dates on their GPS units. The waypoints are stored in local time while tracklogs are stored in GMT.

The chinese and many other disagree.

What year is this? Is it the year of the dragon or the year of the pig? Or is it the year of the duck?

Wow. You're dumb.

They released a memo that standardized the date format for company communication, and they didn't use that date format on the memo.

Of course there is. Just not in your perception. Because this is the year of the spider, the year of HD. Where ONE head, naught EIGHT legs naught = 1080.

Double the first digit and exchange the two least significant digits = 2008.
