You know, I've already seen the "after" photo in the other thread. However, seeing them side by side like this, it occurred to me that the "after" version looks a lot more sleek, scary, and menacing than the vanilla "before" one. Since a lot of the gun control effort is fueled by emotion and the fear of big black scary rifle, I wonder what must be going through the heads of the gun control people when they realize the new version is scarier than ever, how long it will take before they renew their efforts to introduce even more bans and restrictions, and how successful those efforts would be given that IMO pretty much everything that can be banned has been banned at this point and the next logical step would be to ban everything semiautomatic?

I just had to register- lol- my MAGAZINES last Decemeber with the state of CT because they hold more than 10 rounds. The entire time I was filling out the form I was like, 0_o this is so insane.

I'm confused by your question. Its a standard AR15 with a variation on a standard rifle stock, adapted to attach to the pistol grip mount.

Did you think there were more significant changes than that?

I don't know much of anything about guns and rifles (just fired a few at a gun/rifle range, but, I do not own or collect any).

Nonetheless, do any of these changes do anything to this rifle, besides make it look stupid? Has anyone fired one of these?

None of the operating parts were changed. Its purely a cosmetic modification.

You can see the buffer tube above the stock. Normally its in the stock, but it's rigid enough it doesn't need any sort of protection. On the contrary, stock normally attaches to it.

I imagine there's probably a bullet button mag release as well and it looks like they're using a gas block instead of a front sight block. These are all "standard" parts that have been around since at least the 90s.

Its still an AR15 at heart. Just with a body kit.

The problem with going full retard, as I implied in my post, is that we're three steps away from muskets. There is literally no room to go full retard. Several states have 10 round limit already. NY just tried 7, thankfully it failed. Next step is 5 rounds. After 5 rounds it's 1 round only aka bolt action rifle. After bolt action rifle it's a musket. Like I said, we're 3 steps away from muskets.

As far as SCOTUS goes I'm not too thrilled about it. Some of its decisions are truly baffling to me. I disagree with its ruling on the private property sale in 2005 and while it did strike down Chicago handgun ban, it did it in a 5-4 decision which is way closer than should be.

True enough, but I'm somewhat looking forward to the day when they show their true colors. It's already happened a little and the backlash, while only somewhat effective, was effective. Next they'll pass a law that you can't have that new style stock. Then someone will install a custom hunting rifle stock that looks cool. This could go on forever.

If the law said "no guns with folding or collapsing stocks" and the reasoning was to make them LESS concealable, I'd get it. I would disagree, but I'd get it.

But the law is a "fixed" stock. Look, an adjustable stock is just for comfort. Before 1960 or so, our main battle rifles all had fixed WOOD stocks. Adjustable stocks doesn't make them any MORE lethal than before. I could probably take out a good number of people with an M1 Garand...
