Why don't we start a thread to get to know each other better and maybe find something out we don't know. Normally I'd suggest naked twister, but thats hard to do now ;) Why don't you write a short paragraph about yourself? :)

I'm a 19 year old guy from the cow fields of Southern Illinois, near St Louis, attending college. In my life I've worked in the video production department at a cable tv place. I've also been/am an independant computer consultant and an assistant in the college's computer lab. I've been the editor of the newspapers of the schools I've been to for the last 3 years. I like to tweak up my turbo dodge's in my spare time, as well as build up a 1980 Jeep CJ5 for some offroading.

Now tell me about your careers, hobbies, etc :)

Well Soy, since it seems there's not much action, I will spill it for ya :)

I'm a 21 year old guy from Columbus,GA, south of Atlanta. I work as a Sys Admin for a large regional

Telco/Data Circuit provider. I have also worked for AT&T @Home as a network engineer before. In my spare time, I enjoy street-racing my 2001 SS Z28 (mustangs taste best she says ;), watching all these cool people on ATOT and joining in the fun sometimes, and partying once in a while ;)

Hell, why not...

I'm 18 years old, taking a break from school working full time. I quit school after my first year of an engineering transfer, & have worked full time for the last ~2 years. I worked at Target overnight, & now I do tech support for networking DSL connections. I have a P3 700 @ 933, GF2 @ 220/400, & 256 MB Mosel Vitalic REV2. And I rarely play games. I spend too much time here 'cause I post from work. This week I'll be spending 64 hours here. If I'm not at work, I'm usually either asleep, watching movies, or talking on the phone to Sarah, my best friend & the woman I want to marry.

And that's about it, I guess.

Well most of you know this by now, but for those who don't, here goes. I am a 27 yr old married mother of three. I am a stay at home mom right now, and volunteer off and on at my kids schools or Head Start.

My hobbies are mostly enjoying time with my kids, reading and surfing the net, although I do love to go dancing when ever I can.

I'm 29, male, single (but very jaded), and live in southeastern PA. I work for a large PC company, and have been tinkering with computers since I got a Commodore 64 in 1982. Fishing is my favorite hobby, along with 4x4'ing with a club that I am a member of.

Howdy I'm a 20 year old (21 in Dec.)male college student at University at Albany. I don't live here, I'm from Long Island which is about a 3.5 hr drive. My official job title is an Academic Computing Consultant, which basically means I work 15 hours a week in the school's computer lab, surf Anandtech, and play any games that don't have to be "officially installed." Like to play Starcraft, work out, listen to music, watch movies. Fav. baseball team is the Yanks (gee, could you tell? ;)), basketball the Knicks. Sorry my life is kinda boring. ;)

I like to bicycle and used to own a bicycle shop and have managed several. I like cars, especially VWs, and used to be a garage manager of an auto center.

My favorite bands are ELO, Camper Van Beethoven, Pop Will Eat Itself and Collective Soul.

I drink A LOT of beer.

I blame my work for this.

Ok, I'm 19 and of the male gender. I'm currently not really doing much, although I am in a signed band (for which I play electric guitar). I like that. We had a gig tonight and I've drunk quite a lot, although hopefully I haven't made any of those stupid (deliberate lol) spelling mistakes that one would often associate with a drunken anand poster :p I live in London, and also like cheese.

I am 27, male, single, mostly retired, still do some venture capital and investment banking. I live in San Diego, grew up in St. Louis. I have one dog, one cat. In my free time I like watersports, upgrade/work on my computer and home theater, and go sheep herding with my dog (don't laugh, my dog lives for it :) )

My name is Jeremy, I'm a 20-year old college student at the University of Florida in Gainesville. BSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering, of course... Born and raised in St. Petersburg for the most part, moved around the SE a little as a kid, too. I play Ultimate Frisbee a lot. I'm also an avid bass guitarist (Fender 5-string J-bass), I like funk music. I like working on cars, but don't get the chance to here in the dorms where my car lives 20 minutes away from me. I spend a bunch of time with my church folk. Currently single (6'1", 175lbs; ...ladies?). Found Anandtech this past June (a pivotal event in my life, hehe;)), instantly addicted. No job. No $$. Life is good:)

Hi everybody...

A lot of people here already know who I am, but this can't hurt.

I am 16 years of age, have brown hair hazel eyes, 5'11, 135, blah blah blah. I live in St. Lazare, which is located in Québec, Canada. I'm a high school student. I'm in Grade 11, which is the last year of high school here. Once this year is up, I go on to CEGEP, which is I believe the french equivalent of College.

I have two dogs and a cat, and my sister's bird just died because she's too damn indolent and immature to be able to maintain a pet. We used to have two guinea pigs (my sister and I one each). They died a while ago, but they were relatively old, so it wasn't too surprising (but saddening).

My favorite sport would of course have to be Hockey. I like Basketball too, but I can't stand to watch Baseball, and would be bored to death watching Football too... I don't know how you guys that watch it can do that!

Ever since I was about 11 or 12 years old, I've had an interest in computers. I started messing around when we had a bunch of 8086 and 286s that my dad had brought home to work on for his job (technician). I remember playing Nibbles and Gorillas. :) Those were the days... LOL.

Well, our 'first' computer was a 386, then a 486, then a 6x86MX, then an MII, then a K6-2. I think the 486 was the biggest step-up, if not, the 6x86MX (had the PR200). I was pretty dissapointed with the K6-2 in terms of overall performance, and even more so in terms of gaming performance. And I'm saying that coming from a Cyrix! I was expecting my games to run MUCH faster, since the Cyrix was supposed to have such an incredibly weak FPU, but there wasn't a huge increase, even though the K6-2 was running at 400, and the Cyrix (MII) was at 262.5.

Anyways... Now, whenever, I use the P83 which is in my mom's room, to check mail and check back here. My system is kind of *dead*.. In an attempt to get a K6-III+ to work on my VA-503+, I somehow fried the board I guess... oh well.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for College... I might be moving this summer, but I'm not sure. So I'll have to see what happens. Right now I'm thinking about two different courses: Digital & Computer Systems, and Computer Science. Computer Science is purely programming, and the other is more of actual hardware and stuff, less programming (still some though, C++ and VB included).

Later...

My nickname is "hippy"(which is short for "Long haired hippy Fu..ker from across the street"), here, as it is elsewhere.
I grew up in the west (Wyoming mostly) but have lived in Vermont for quite some time. I'z been married to the same wonderfull woman for 15 years this last August.

I've been hangin around Anand's forums since before he had any. I forgot what the hell I was replying to, and why.
Oh yeah!! I used to walk three miles barefoot thru the snow with a ripe dead dog on my back everyday just to get to the schoolbus... But the bus driver was crazy... So, My excuse went over well.

I'll give it a go.

My name is Ben, I'm 23 and engaged to be married this June to my fiancee who I've been with for over 3 years now. I live in Delaware and work for a large investment bank settling fixed income securities. I'm not as big of a techie as all the other people out here, but I do like computers and I know a decent amount about them, at least enough to build my own.

I graduated from the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) with a B.S. in Finance (former engineering student, but who isnt?) I love skiing and playing the acoustic guitar. One day I will buy my dream guitar, the Taylor 815ce, but for now I'm playing on my Takamine DSF-48C which I love.

Born in Singapore, raised mostly in Maryland. I like to watch kung fu flicks and anime. Cant wait for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to come out, if you havent heard of it, go look it up, its gonna be an amazing movie.

Good evening fellow Anandtekkers,

My friend's call me DC. I was recently granted "senior" status (yesterday) so compared to many of you, I am still a newbie. I consider myself a Dealholic... I currently study Architecture (2nd year... of 5) at Carnegie Mellon University in this sh*thole named Pittsburgh.

I was born and raised (for half my life) in NYC. Lived in Brooklyn for the majority of the time I was there (Fort Greene... near the Fulton Mall? Manahttan Bridge). I attended the Chinatown Day Carecenter, St. James (k-3), and P.S. 130 (4-6). After the sixth grade, my family moved to NJ. I attended Heritage Middle School and then Livingston High School.

I have a really slow computer right now (PII 300mhz), currently building my new computer to be completed this December/January.

My favorite sport is wrestling (even though CMU doesn't have a wrestling team)... freestyle, scholastic, greco-roman (not WWF, WCW even though I enjoy watching it sometimes). Currently I get most of my exercise at the Pittsburgh Submission Fighters Club.

My favorite car company is Honda, and no, I don't consider myself a rice boy. I currently drive an Infiniti though, but hopefully by next year I'll be in an Acura TL (type S?).

My favorite architect is I.M. Pei, favorite building is the Bank of China in Hong Kong.

Favorite tv show? Conan O'Brien! My favorite music is Korean techno/rap/hiphop/dance. I don't really have any favorite sports teams anymore... can't really think of anything else right now.

After my five years in college, I'll be out in the real world earning dirt as an architect. So you guys out there in the tech field or any other field that pays real money, I'd be happy to design your house... need all the work I can get.
