Let's get this whole anti/pro war thing straight

Hi,

Can I please just make the point that being "anti-war" (I hate that term as its so ambiguous) can mean many things - not just that you would be against a war no matter what (a pure pacifist I guess). It can mean.

I object to war unconditionally
I object to war unless certain criteria are achieved (which kinda makes you slightly "pro-war" - see the ambiguity?)
I realise a war was most likely always on the cards - but I object strongly to the way in which it has come about.

Please remember this when people start yelling "pro/anti-war"!!!!

Cheers,

Andy

That's why I normally put mine in double quotes. Ie, that guy is "pro-war", in the loose sense of it.

I know what you mean (I do it too) - its just some people seem to use double quotes, but not remember why they're doing it.

Another definition: I hate president bush and all republicans.

This is not to start a flame war, but you know some people who are "anti-war" feel this way.

I was kind of thinking of meanings with "war" in them. Meanings that could justifyably be labelled under "anti-war". I think "I hate Bush" would come under "anti-bush/republican" applying those definitions - not "anti-war".

So?

I'm just making a point. I figured that some others might agree/disagree or have some other points of view on the subject.
