The area was spectacular with the rain we just received in the area 2 days ago. Some areas got 4+ inches in a short amount of time. The waterfalls were incredible at some of the other area gorges, especially over by Ithaca. I saw a video of (I think it was) Buttermilk falls and it was just unreal compared to the usual falls. The Genesee peeked at about 13 feet (I've kayaked it higher than that) and is back down to about 10.2 right now - barely runnable. So, if you bring your kayaks, it's fairly easy for novices. It'll be even lower by the weekend, provided no huge rainfalls. I'm going to be taking the boat to the lake Saturday, then Sunday, I've been volunteered by my wife to help both sons get their boats ready.

I have my camper prepped and ready. Just need to grab some food on the way out. This weekend can't get here fast enough!

Been prepping mine this week. Just little odds and ends. Tire pressure etc....I'm probably gonna squeal like a little girl when I see them falls.

You could say I had a blast. Don't get used to seeing the train tressle though, comes down in two years.

Glad you had a good time. My brother lives nearby, really enjoys the opportunity to hike through the park.

You used to be able to take tours through the dam, I do not know if they still do, and it is obviously a little late to make that suggestion.

Yeah they had them, just didn't appeal to me.

The place was gorgeous. The weather was beautiful for the most part. Took one hike on the Portage Trail where I "caught" a young couple lol. I have hundreds of pictures and at least a dozen vids of the place. I will definitely be going back. The campsites were nice, CLEAN, and they had just built a new bathhouse in our loop. Having electric was great. Had 2 deer checking us out a couple of mornings. Its been voted the best state park in the country and it seems to deserve it. It was worth the 6hr drive.

And lastly a shot of MY camper with my wife doing her favorite camping activity: reading on her Kindle. (the tent was for my son and his friend)

Look'n good.
It's more of a 24 hour drive from me. ~1500 miles.

UPDATE.

Too bad. Maybe they're building a new one?
At least I finally got to walk out on it - back around 2004. My wife froze up, didn't want to take another step. I imagine a train rushing by in close proximity would be nerve-wracking.
