I did my weekly check-up at M$ to see if any updates were available. It listed an ATI driver for my AIW 7500. Specifically:
Ati Technologies Inc. Media Driver Version 5.13.01.6004
I thought all 5. series drivers are for Win 2K not XP. I opted not to install it until I can figure out what is going on. Anyone have any insite on this driver?

I saw it listed there the other day and am wondering the same thing. Right now I am using some driver I found at www.rage3d.com ( I think, it might have been a link to ati site.) Not the one listed there now (that one had problems with Quake 2 for some reason, at least on my machine)

Right now I am using wxp-766-04-020129x-2545e, and quake 2 runs great.

If you do decide to try it out let me know how it goes. I know ati has been getting bettter and better at updating their drivers in the past month or so. I hope they continue to release better drivers.

I haven't really put much effort into checking multiple times, but in my experience the MS update drivers are never as new as the latest from the manufacturer.

I think mabye they just put them there for people who don't normally deal w/ keeping drivers up to date and stuff so they get a relatively new one every now and again. Probably the latest one that has made it through some sort of MS testing or something...not really sure though.

Whatever it is, I don't think you can go wrong with the latest from the manufacturer or another site if you prefer third party drivers. Can't imagine MS' being better than those.

I thought the drivers were put up to WU when they passed WHQL certification.

windows update drivers are horrible, each time I've tried it its screw up the computer. 3com drivers completely disabled my internet, new ATI drivers brought my display back to standard VGA....
