Obama has been in like 25 Democratic debates. Written 2 autobiographies. Debated McCain twice. Sat for over 100 unscripted interviews. Has had every last thing in his life investigated over and over again by the both the right wing and left wing media for the last 18 months.

Palin has been in the national spotlight for 6 weeks. She gave 1 or 2 interviews and was in one vp debate.

And Palin says we don't know who Obama is?

Does anyone have a problem with this????

Problem Solved.

OMG. Sarah Palin speaks English worse than George W. Bush!

Thats an awful lot of questions. How about we assume the questions were asked and investigated, and that the answer wasn't worthy of a news story?
That's a good idea... let's just assume the media did its job and everything they haven't reported on isn't worth talking about.

Fine, lets assume the Clinton Machine and the RNC did their homework and couldn't come up with anything either, since the best they found was these loose associations barely worthy of a negative campaign ad, let alone a news article.

The HRC campaign did try this angle; then as now the MSM beat them down.

Fern, not the MSM, but the dem voters beat Hillary down because they heard her bring up Ayers, did a quick peak online about him, and found out exactly what everyone else, including the MSM, found out. That there's no story. The polls didn't move for her, and the negatives of bringing up something slimy left people with a bad taste in their mouth. And the same bad taste is being experienced at GOP rallies by people except for those yelling "terrorist" and "traitor", especially given the economic climate.

The problem the GOP is having with these guilt-by-association attacks is fundamentally cultural. The same reason that McCarthyism eventually backfired once the public's irrational fear wore off. The American culture places a very high value on the inherent right of freedom of association (it's in the 1st amendment). And the right of a person to be charged only with the wrongs that they have actually committed, and not the wrongs (real or not) of their associates - family, friends, whatever (the 6th amendment). These McCarthyist attacks strike at the very heart of that. And yet, they're non-stop with calls from the far right that there are not enough of them.

I tell ya, the Pubs lost the libertarian vote practically on this issue alone. IMO it's as though the Pubs were attacking freedom of speech. Who among us did not associate with or personally know at least one unsavory character in our past? Now imagine if you personally were called to task for everything that person did or was accused of doing?

Sad but true. Hopefully this election will be remembered as win dirty attacks FAILED, and will be a watershed moment in our political history towards the trend of more sensible and issues-based campaigning.

To give McCain some credit, he has held back personally quite a bit, but his advisors, committees, and Veep candidate have been pretty vile overall.

I realize these are high, probably even unrealistic hopes, but the dirt in this election cycle has largely been a one-way street. And the side throwing less poo is winning in spades.
