Let it drop

I went out and bought the PNY PC2700 256mb sodimm @ best buy today. Took out one of the two 128mb chips in this new Dell (DIMM A), and now it won't boot. Lights just blink for a few seconds and it turns itself off. No bootup screens or anything.

Putting the 128mb chip backing does bootup fine.

Any clues?!
