Let it be known that Verizon doesn't know how to do simple math.

This thing is almost 2 hours long but I can't stop listening!

So hilarious. There really isn't any other way for him to explain it. I would have gone postal.

It's actually 27 minutes long. Putfile is reporting a wrong length of time.

Wait, I didn't follow.
Was the guy asking Verizon to charge him more money? (he was charged .002c, when he was suppose to get charged $.002???)

And yea, it's pretty damn funny. I actually had to think about it for a minute after that one ;)

He was charged $.002

He was quoted .002 cents.

He wanted his bill reduced because although they really charge $.002 he was still being quoted .002 cents.

Other way around, buddy.

The guy complaining also makes some mistakes when describing his situation. That might have caused more confusion, but I guess he was just so angry he couldn't think too straight.

People need to learn to do math and not have calculators do it for them. Any engineering/physics/biology major person would have easily understood the difference because of dimensional analysis.

As should anybody who successfully passed middle school math.

This is TERRIBLE. The idiots at verizon probably kept reading $.002 as ".002 cents" when he was quoted. If this doesn't get resolved, I'd take them to court. There is a huge difference between $71 and $.71

For those interested in what it says on the site:

Plan Information
(1) Other data services (Quick 2 Netsm dial-up connections) at $0.25 per minute. NationalAccess roaming in Canada is $.002/KB

He's getting charged what he should be getting charged, but I still don't support Verizon in this. You make decisions about how much you use based on what you originally believed. He could win a lawsuit no problem.

Well, he is being charged the actual rate, not what he was quoted. He was quoted 0.002 cents per kb, and this is written in his Verizon account summary.

I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that in his account summary is "Quoted charge: $.002"

Just people are too used to saying $.99 = ninety-nine cents, $.50 = fifty cents, $.002 = point zero zero two cents.

"Whatever comes after the dollar sign, just say it and add cents to the end."

He was repeatedly told during the conversation that the rate is calculated as .002 cents per kb. The first guy even looked it up. The thing that really messed me up is that everyone recognized the difference between a penny and a dollar, but couldn't perceive the difference between a fraction of the same ratio.

I would have gone ballistic, I'm sure. He should have demanded to speak to a manager higher up, or perhaps asked if he could send an email. I think a written summary where he could have done proper dimensional analysis for those idiots may have helped.

I doubt it would have done anything, but perhaps if he walked them through converting the 0.002 cents to dollars (0.00002 dollars) they may have seen the difference to the actual rate of 0.002 dollars.

I would guess that you are probably correct. Luckily, he has the phone conversation as a source now, too.

Man that guy is retarded. He should stop talking about cents and dollars just pick one and stick with it.
