I have only recently started to use the multiple user account facility in XP Pro and have found that it is very short of the facility in NT Workstation. For instance I can only designate a user account as being "normal" or "administrator" as there are only these two types. Am I missing something or is this how XP Pro was supposed to be?

This is the "dumbed down" interface you see when the machine is not a mamber of a domain.

According WinXP help file, it doesn't look like this can be changed.

The same interface that exists in WINNT and 2K is in XP, even if you are not a member of the domain. Simply right click on My Computer (on the desktop or in your startmenu or even in the explorer) and select Manage. Alternatively you can type compmgmt.msc into your Run dialog. Either way you will get the Computer Management console. Third one down under System Tools it says Local Users and Groups. Click here and you should be in familiar territory - you can create groups and assign each user to groups etc... just like in other NT based Windows versions.

EDIT:
Forgot - you can also get to the Computer Management Console by going Start-> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
