Mmm, glad to know someone got assaulted in California. I'm sure that several people probably died in Seattle yesterday or in surrounding areas, all of whose fate and daily lives affect me more than Leo. Glad to know our news sources are keeping us abreast of the important news.

Did I say anything in my post about the socioeconomic status of any one person aside from implying something about DiCaprio?
People die every day, peacefully and horribly. People suffer, and people starve. Children die. Nothing will change that inevitable maw. What does matter to me is if a person's death affects me. That's not selfish, that's just reality. If we were informed of every person's death every time someone died anywhere, we'd have no time to live. So I filter my news and my perception of the world to include only notices of death and suffering from those people with whom I have a personal or professional connection (including of course events involving significant numbers of people or political figures).
In this particular case, I have no personal or professional connection with Mr. DiCaprio, and while I feel some modicum of sympathy for him (having a facial scar from a mishap when I was young), I can't bring myself to regard his altercation as worthy of attention.
