Sometimes I think I should quit inspecting my equipment so closely, but I noticed that my Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 (out of warranty) has what I believe is some lens element separation.
Looking through the rear element under direct light, I can see that one of the middle lens elements has a faint haze-like ring around its circumference. I've never noticed any performance issues with the lens since I bought it used about 3 years ago, and I'm not sure if this is a recent development or if it has been there the whole time.
Worth getting repaired? Is it expensive to repair? Will it get worse over time or stay as-is?
