Lenovo Z580 info

I picked up an Acer Timeline M3 the other day with Core i3 and 640m. However, the cpu bottlenecks the 640m and I have not seen more than 70% cpu usage in any game. But the audio packed up so it is going back under what we call in the uk 'Distance Selling' where they will give me a full refund. The screen is dreadful also...in case anyone was going to buy one.

I found this Lenovo Z580 in brushed metal finish for a good price. It says on the website it is a core i5 3210m which is an Ivy Bridge which can do 2.5 to 3.1 ghz and runs super pi 1m in 12s vs 17s for the i3 in the Acer.

However the spec listed says 640m but I can't replicate this spec at any other vendor or on the Lenovo site.

Has anyone got any evidence to suggest these are shipping with a 640m now they have Ivy Bridge. The ones on Amazon uk list the 630m but the i5 they list is the old Sandy Bridge.

Any info extremely appreciated, as i'd like a 640m rather than a 630m particularly as i'll have more CPU power.

You need to find out whether the 640m that's optional with that Z580 is actually a 640m LE which can be either Kepler or Fermi, 28nm or 40nm with any of those combinations.

I think it depends on country since model spec varies,I just got a Samsung 550P5C in the UK which has 650m Nvidia chip ,Ivy bridge,1 TB HD 15.6" screen only 1366x768 but its a very good matt screen(I do have two 1080P screens) and the 1366x768 on the Samsung impressed me,especially after I disabled clear type and and the smoothing font effects in system settings then did my hardware monitor calibration ,you can see it listed here http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Samsung_550P5C_1192061.html

Advantage of 1366x768 screen is FPS will be better then native 1920x1080 screen, besides you can always hook it up to 1080P screen via HDMI so 1080P laptop screen only has desktop space advantage as far as I'm concerned.

Just for the record, the Z580 retailing at about £500 in the UK has Intel 4000. My friend pulled the trigger on one which was advertised as having 640m. This was the retailers fault though.
