Lenovo Y580 Windows 8 USB issue

I installed Windows 8 on my Lenovo Y580 (it came with the $15 upgrade) and now my USB 3.0 drivers don't work. They acknowledge something plugged in and can charge but don't actually communicate with any devices. The Lenovo forums have been a complete waste of time for help on this. Any ideas anyone?

Have you tried going into Device Manager and uninstalling all the USB 3.0. controllers?
Reboot and let Win8 reinstall them.
