Lenovo Wifi Problem

A Casual Fitz

My Dad bought this without any advice a while back and the wifi doesn't connect very well. It'll be fine for a while and then disappear for extended periods of time. I tried the driver roll back fix the issue but he says it's still happening. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Thanks in advance.

Here's the link to the Amazon page from where he bought it:

OS and Wifi card? Sometimes laptop Wifi cards are set to lower power stats to save battery, but leads to worse performance and signal drop. Try going into device settings and turning the transmit power all the way up and any power savings options off.

Look in advanced adapter settings. There may be something there to turn off that is currently on. I forget the exact setting, but if you google a bit, you can nail it down. There are some advanced network adapter settings relating to either power management or some kind of buffering/flowcontrol or something that can cause drops in some circumstances. This is very common on Macs running Windows in Bootcamp. I've had to do this to fix the problem on an iMac in Windows.

Thank you! I'll try this tomorrow when my Dad comes over.

I tried the new laptop in various areas, connected to various networks. It works flawless everywhere else, but in home. Any idea what the problem might be? And if the problem is not in my router in home, why then my other laptop connects there without any problems? I am really confused and don't know what is going on.

I went into the settings and unchecked the option that allows the computer to turn off wifi to save power. Every time I'm over there it's working fine but my dad says it's spotty. It's difficult to do anything else since I never experience the issue.
