fbrdphreak: Nice review...... Note for everyone... these new Widescreen TP's use a new powerbrick voltage (20v vs 18v) and have a different plug for the thinkpad side of things... so your old adapters that you use at your desk won't work with the widescreens or the new thinkpads coming out at the turn of the year..... I'll need to buy a second adapter for the next generation T when it arrives. :(

Also... I know you were reviewing based on the preload - Did you see the new Access Connections yet? 4.1 is posted, and the new interface is SWEET!.

I've got productivity center and away manger on my T..... Not sure how useful away manager will be for me, but I like the maintenance tasks features of prod center. the new system update tool is much nicer than update connector as well... Check them out if you haven't yet.

I played with them a bit, but not extensively. Just not enough use out of them for me ;)

I just reloaded my T42, but haven't installed Access Connections yet. I don't use all the features enough and thought I'd see what it was like without the extra bloat ;)

Yeah they use a diff adapter. On the upside the power connector is a good bit thicker and sturdier. My T42's connector is getting pretty loose, looks like the Z's connector should hold up better.

The site was down earlier, apparently a widespread attack that affected our host.

It is somewhat mobile, but really aimed as a DTR; like most 15.4".

I'm having some serious z60m-envy right now. Only things keeping me from selling the ole i9200 is the fact that the z60m doesn't include a DVI connector and is a little out of my price range... Someone convince me to buy this!!!!

btw, fbrdphreak, great review! I wonder if it would be too much trouble to ask if you could throw up some Linux compatibility tests on there...

Oooh, that's a very good point: DVI would really complete the Z60m. I'll pass that on to Lenovo, that is a great idea.

As far as Linux goes, if we can get a Linux person on the team you'll start seeing articles about Linux and laptops. Until then no one really has the expertise necessary :(

Is Lenovo going to continue to use the IBM logo on the laptops indefinately? or are they going to eventually have a "Lenovo Thinkpad" logo on there?

THe IBM logo under the agreement could be used up to 18 months ... Either party can choose to shorten that, or extend the use.

From my understanding of talking to people in the know, it's not decided if the Lenovo logo will replace the IBM logo. I'm sure they have data from some market research firm that will convince them one way or the other.... But the ThinkPad is a very powerful brand within a brand (IBM), and I think it's perceived that it can stand on it's own.
