Vs Dell Latitude of any kind.

There is a pretty big deal on the T450s till April 29th. So I was wondering which one to get.

A Lenovo t450s without the MSSD drive with a 1080p ips display with the sale is around $700. Which Is pretty good I think.

How do THinkpads compared with Latitude?

Both are equally good imo, but I prefer Lenovo, I feel their overall quality is better but they lack the bell and whistles of Dell

I wish I had jumped on the Lenovo ThinkPad T450s last week when it was 40%, now it's 30% off?

After the Lenovo I last had (can't remember the model number, although it wasn't top tier), I will never buy from them again. It seems like quality across the board has gone down dramatically over the last several years, everything is flimsy and the screens are garbage. Maybe I was spoiled by my PowerBook I had.

We've got about ~150 of them. Mostly the t440s, but I've started handing out the t450s and it's a pretty solid machine. They're harder to work on then the old E6xxx series Dells were, but I've only had to open 2 up for something other then RAM upgrades.

Dell because of the universal AC adapter and universal dock.

I have one 210w on my desk and it work with 99% of Latitude/Precision.

Apparently the T450s have soldered ram.

WHat happens when the soldered ram goes bad? I mean it would be bad since you can't replace it.

I'm just setting up my new Dell Latitude E5450 (14"). I chose it over the T450s because the Dell offered better specs for the money and because it doesn't have any soldered RAM. I got one with 16GB RAM, which is more than what is possible on the T450s. The other specs are:

14" 1080p IPS
i5-5300U
16GB DDR3L-1600
128GB Sandisk X110 mSATA

I bought a Crucial MX100 512GB and installed that in place of the Sandisk drive. The Sandisk drive was mounted in a SATA to mSATA adapter located in the 2.5" drive bay, so it had to be removed.

All in all, I'm very happy with this machine so far. I've had a MacBook Air previously, but had to replace it due to hardware failure. This Latitude might not be as thin and light, but the footprint is only marginally larger. Even with the 512GB SSD and the nice 1080p screen, it was still 5-10% cheaper than the MBA 13" with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. :p

Best of all: You can open it up and replace parts yourself. That's really quite valuable to me, as I perform actual work on this machine.

Does the Dell have a glossy screen?
That's a deal breaker for me. I've never had RAM fail, integrated or otherwise.

Yep, the one I got (which they had a really good price on) has a touchscreen with gorilla glass. I'm certainly no fan of glossy screens (or touch), but there was no other compelling model available and close to this price. Besides, the way I use my laptop (external monitor >95% of the time) it doesn't matter much.

However, the glossy touchscreen variant seems to be really rare. Besides the model I bought, all of the Latitude E5450 I've seen have a matte screen (either 1366x768 or 1080p).

I should have added that I have nothing against glossy screens as I know lots of people prefer them. But for me I'll take a matte every time. It's one of the reason my home TV's are LG or Sony instead of Samsung which seem to be really glossy. We all have our little crazy preferences!
