I was checking the Lenovo site and found out they are having a 2day sale with 33% off any machine so I specced out a T400 with following specs.

Processor Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) 25W
Operating system Genuine Windows Vista Business 64
Recovery DVD Microsoft Windows XP Professional US English RDVD
Display type 14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ LED Backlight
System graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Total memory 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM
Keyboard Keyboard US English
Pointing device UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad) with Fingerprint Reader
Optical device CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)
Express Card Slot & 4-1 Media Card Reader
Bluetooth Integrated Bluetooth PAN
Wireless card Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)
Battery 9 cell Li-Ion Battery

Total came out to $1139 plus shipping after using the 33% off coupon. Am I right in assuming that is the same as the old T series thinkpads that were sold by IBM. Do these still have the spill-proof keyboard and rollcage? I have been contemplating between this machine and a Dell Latitude E6400 but at this price the Dell can't touch it so I would really like to pull the trigger. This machine will be used for work and grad school so all it will be doing is Office, internet, some coding with Visual Studio and that's about it. I care most for battery life and speed with the above apps which is why I went with the GMA 4500MHD. Maybe some very light work with photoshop CS3 but that's not that important at all. I mostly need something with good battery life and build quality since it will be carried around everywhere. Ohh also the display has the LED upgrade and 1440x900 resolution.

Get it before they run out of bluetooth parts again. My Thinkpad didn't even give me the option to add bluetooth.. I got my x61t earlier this week.

If you see a better deal from them (within a certain time period, before it ships?), you can have them do a price adjustment. Just be prepared to create a 'quote' online, through same ordering process but select create quote. Call them up and tell them the price for your purchase dropped on their website and they'll ask for the quote #.

I just ordered one of these as well. I really wanted a 13" laptop that was in the lower 4lb. range, but the higher specs and screen res made me order the t400. I will have to put up with an extra pound when I travel (which is frequently) I guess.

It is unfortunate that the current trend for company manufacturers is to go widescreen. It wouldn't be bad if it was widescreen version of the old screens, but it's a lower res widescreen.

For example, instead of SXGA(1280x1024) to WSXGA(~1680x1050), it's WXGA(1366x768). Or similar.

Glad I got my SXGA+(1400x1050) on my 12" before they changed. :)
