Lenovo T60 won't turn on after shutdown

I've been leaving my Lenovo T60 on or in suspend mode. If I shut it down fully and leave it for a couple minutes, it won't turn back on. The only way I can get it to turn back on is to leave it unplugged and remove the battery for over 24 hours or so (I never timed it exactly). I replaced the CMOS battery but that didn't help. I also tried the "static discharge" trick, but that just makes me feel silly and has no effect.

Anyone ever heard of something like this before? Ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like your battery has reached or is close to EOL. Does it run OK with the battery removed and on A/C adapter only?

It runs fine with or without the battery installed. However, in any case, when I shut it down and try to turn it on with or without the battery installed, I'm getting the symptoms in my OP.
