I've always bought 3rd party new or rebuilds. Never a problem. YMMV.

well problem with 3rd party batteries is that most of them are absolute junk.
they dont last... dont hold the stated charge capacity, and li-ion carry the risk of catching on fire.

i am not saying all 3rd party batteries are bad, but a good number of them are.

this is why people recommend getting real lenovo... because if something happens to the battery, you have the lenovo name to either litigate (if it caught on fire) or replace, if its defective, vs a 3rd party no name company which will disappear the moment they realize there product carries risk.

Buy a genuine battery off ebay. Have never paid more than $27 for a genuine Lenovo battery, usually 85%+ health remaining. As weird as it sounds, Amazon is far more unreliable imo since it's difficult to find accurate pictures/descriptions or confirmation that you're getting genuine.

If you use Power Manager, you may have some problems with functionality with non-OEM batteries. Not too sure about that one, though.

For anyone else reading this, if you've got an Ivy Bridge Thinkpad or newer (-30 or newer) you'll need a genuine one - Lenovo started stuffing authentication chips inside for those generations.

This is very true we have a ton of them at my parent's office, you'll want the seller to give you the whr rating, cycles, and who made it sanyo, lgc, or panasonic.

Sanyo is the worst, they only last 50 cycles before they start dropping whr.

I recommend you only Lenovo battery. It is little expensive then the generic battery but it is really a better option. You can also go with generic battery but it will not profitable for long term.
