I have several excellent Lenovo SFF ThinkCentre desktops that I have saved through out the years and was hoping that one day an universal motherboard would be able to address Lenovo prepiertary motherboard layouts. Each of my ThinkCentre has the backend switched from left to right or right to left for the card slots. I would like to switch out the outdated motherboard and use a new up to date motherboard and new MSSD technology. Is this possible or am I out of luck....still?

What model, M92?

I doubt there will be any standard modern equivelant for those old boards, they were garbage when new, not much market to retro fit modern tech inside one.

Guess, when I have lots of time, I will try to retro fit it with the closest motherboard at that time in the future. Cannot be impossible to do if you take out the back side! That the way I see it.

Have you considered modding or fabricating a chassis like that model, but one that takes a standard ATX / micro-ATX / mini-ITX / mini-STX motherboard?

Lenovo (and others such as HP, Dell) often use the same chassis design with really minimal changes over a couple-few product generations , particularly on the business/enterprise models. Depending on the model you have, might be able to get couple years-newer motherboard (and chipset/processors) from a later gen Lenovo ThinkCenter from Ebay on the cheap that would fit. Just pull up some images of the respective motherboard(s) and compare them side-by-side.
