Lenovo Keyboard Acting Up

A Casual Fitz

My Lenovo G560 keyboard has gotten really funky over the past couple days. About 1/4 of the keys work normally and the others either don't work at all or, for example, when I press "f" the characters "5tf4" are presented and others do similar things. I haven't found too much help through google so far so I thought I'd ask if anyone recognizes the issue and if it's fixable or not. Thanks.

I usually see that with a laptop keyboard that has been damaged by liquid. Try removing the keyboard and checking the cable for damaged. Reset the cable to the motherboard. Be careful because they use two different types of keyboard to motherboard connectors, one where the clip pulls out and the other where the clip flips up. You can also connect a stand dekstop USB keyboard to make sure the problem is with the laptop keyboard and not the motherboard. If the laptop keyboard is bad then get the part number from the label in the back and search ebay for the part number and "genuine" to make sure you don't get a cheap knockoff.

Looks like the price is reasonable for a new one.

Hey thanks. I actually have a USB keyboard hooked up to my laptop and am typing on that right now. After some more searching I decided to just order a replacement keyboard. Hopefully that works.
