Lenovo G580...

Any reason not to buy a Lenovo (G580 specifically).

Looking for a cheap laptop with a budget of less than $400 for basic internet use, maybe netflix/dvd watching, but mostly just internet and remoting in to manage things.

This the guy I am considering:

Key features:
i3-3120m (3rd Gen i3 dual core with hyperthreading at 2.5 GHz)
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
15.6 Screen
Numpad on keyboard
Intel 4000 Video

Looking for budget, and most likely will stick to Intel. At $359, this should be a pretty solid deal. Just looking for feedback on the Lenovo brand or if someone has a better option.

i3 and 4GB RAM for that price? I don't see why not.

As a brand, Lenovo is great, but you can't really look at things from a brand perspective when considering anything budget-oriented. Every brand cuts corners and does the same cheap solutions when it comes to budget stuff.

Yeah, I am pretty much there. I have 5 in stores locally, so I'll probably pick one up locally tomorrow. I just don't know much about Lenovo as a brand. I read good things, but don't know much.

Also, I had found this one last night:

Same i3, 6GB of RAM, 640GB HDD at 399. Apply coupon code for another $75 off, and it comes to 325 after rebate. Problem is, it's no longer available online, there are none locally, and the coupon is only good online. My wife's family has several, and love them. The build quality tend to seem pretty good on Toshibas as well.

But, back to the Lenovo, I just haven't had my hands on one.

Well, I stopped in and picked one up. Took all of 2 minutes. Soooo much easier than dealing with best buy. Will get to play with it tonight.

Good deal! I have used the Lenovo G series at the stores and they seem very nice. Congratulations on your purchase!

Yeah, I briefly looked in the store. Keys seemed nice, case was sturdy. Seemed pretty quick too. I was looking as one of the three gentlemen was grabbing it out of the case.

Not a fan of Windows 8 yet (used on other machines), but I figure I'll eventually have to get used to it.
