Length of GTX 260 & HD 4870 vs 8800 GT

So thinking about upgrading my MSI NX8800GT 512M OC to either a GTX 260 or a HD 4870. Mostly concerned about the length of the cards. My 8800 GT is pretty long and space would be an issue with anything longer than that. Anyone happen to know how much longer either on one of those cards are in comparison?

GTX = 10.5 inches with the power plug on the side (in cards where it is facing backwards it takes another inch and half)
4870 = i forgot..

My Powercolour HD4870 is probably about 1/2" longer than my BFG 8800GT OC.

My 8800GT was a tight fight, my HD4870 was even tighter due to the dual slot cooler being more cumbersome to work with.

Hmm...I'll have to take this into consideration.

Really wish online retailers would put down the length of the card with the rest of the "features" when showcasing it. Meh.

Is 4850 longer than 3870? What of 4870?

I think the 4850 is just slightly longer than a 3870 but just barely..

4870 is 9 inches I believe, with the PCI-E connectors facing backwards..so allow room to plug those in.

I switched from 2x3870s to 2x4850s and I can confirm the 4850 is less than 0.5in longer. Practically no difference in length and the single slot coolers made them easier to fit them in my case.

Does both 4850 and 4870 have their power connectors facing inwards, as opposed to 3870? If so, then the total length would be less than 3870's.

4870 visiontek fits in my antec p180 with 2 hard drives int he middle cage. it JUST fits.

would be a much easier fit if the plugs were on the side vs the back like the gt260 design.

that i do not know. but i can say the design of the gt260 with the plugs on the side and not on the back would be better.

its a better design IMO

On my GTX260 the power connections are on the side. It actually fit into my antec p182 better than my 8800GTS 512 did.
