Ugh...usually I go to NYC at least once a month and bring back a ton of bagels, but I already ate my month's supply. All that's left are frozen Lender's Bagels. I forgot just how bad these things are...I wouldn't even qualify them as bagels. Add to the fact that I have to eat an entire package because they're so tiny...grrr...

well, if you're used to fresh, NYC bagels which absolutely rock they suck

but if you're from mid-america with no fresh bagel bakeries, Lender's are the best

I like Lender's but I don't have a place that sells real bagels around here.

If you can't get fresh bagels, get Thomas's Bagels (same maker as Thomas's English Muffins). VERY good for packaged.

All the supermarkets around here bake their own bagels. I thought you could get fresh ones almost anywhere in the country. Peeps say they are "ethnic", but that's ridiculous.

EDIT: Lenders IS crap. If your only bagel experience is a frozen Lenders bagel, then you have my condolences.

There are two versions of Lender's Bagels.

a) Frozen Lender's Bagels. These things are tiny, chewy, and taste terrible.
b) Refrigerated Lender's Bagels. These things are large, soft, and have the best taste of any grocery store bagels that I've ever found. They almost match the taste and quality of fresh baked real bagels.

NEVER EVER buy the frozen ones. Do the world a favor, if we all band together, maybe we can get Lender's to stop production of the frozen kind.

Thomas's are almost as good as the refrigerated Lenders, but not quite good enough for me to buy them instead of refrigerated Lenders. They are far superior to the frozen Lenders.
