I've been playing this for a few days now, and here are some impressions. I have played the Ventress storyline (you can choose to play either the Ventress storyline or go another direction) -
-It has some different styles of play compared to previous LEGO games.
In what appears to first be a space battle level as in previous LEGO Star Wars games, you end up flying around and landing on a Venator class ship to further your progress as well as the normal flying around and shooting.
There is also a level with some strange mix of RTS elements and normal gameplay. It seemed somewhat pointless since nothing was really attacking me...
Maybe this will be expanded in a later level.
-The "base" is nice (the inside of a Venator ship). There is the main console where you choose missions, characters, etc. From there you explore more of the ship as you progress by collecting gold bricks and different characters with their abilities. (You'll know what I mean by abilities if you've ever played a LEGO game!)
-Minikits this time around build minifigs (LEGO men), I have yet to complete one.
-I haven't watched Clone Wars in a while, but as far as I can remember the levels go along with the stories (with the added LEGO storytelling style and humor).
-Some levels you progress by switching between two characters who are in different parts of the same level. Gives it a little more depth, but not much.
-Clone commanders have the ability to command other troops, but it's not as interesting as it sounds and pretty limited.
The game lives up to the LEGO quality I'm used to. There were a few bumps in the road with Indiana Jones, IMO and I haven't encountered any of the annoyances that those games had.
The previous LEGO game, Harry Potter Years 1-4, was a great game as well but feels very different.
I will add more thoughts as I get more play time this weekend!
