I would love those, but holy shit, where does one find the space to put those things? I can more than afford them now, which is sad?

I have forced myself to stop buying any more because I just don't have the space to put any more and refuse to take anything apart.

P.S. You NEED to buy these too:

I have a spare, empty bedroom. Just need to buy some more shelves.

My X-Wing went back together almost perfectly, but I had to sub in some parts from my spares box, and I need to order some new pieces to replace the missing engine exhausts. I'd forgotten how big that sucker is.

I wish I had gotten the TIE Interceptor when it was released. With the new Star Wars movies looming, and the massive build-up of SW Lego sets, it's going to be upwards of $1000 on Flebay, I'm betting. The new TIE Fighter looks pretty cool, it's an Ultimate Collector's set, so hopefully it's on the same scale as the X-Wing.

I've interest in the Simpsons Legos.

I haven't messed with legos in decades, but always thought that was cool.

You most likely had multiple themed sets and just forgot over time. It all ended up in the LEGO bucket once you were done.

That maybe true but not entirely. Todays themed sets are filled with small specialty pieces that are really hard to build anything with. They don't have those chunky 2x6 or 2x8's or the nice bigger pieces that could really lay the foundation for your creations.
Sure we all had the pirate ship or the castle or whatever but my fondest memories are building something of my own and then tearing it apart to build something else. You can't do that with modern Legos.

I feel the same way about it. It seems lego now is all about these very specific kits with very specific parts. Back when I was a kid you had the basic bricks and few speciality parts and could use your imagination to build anything you wanted. I suppose you can still get creative with the kits but with so many different types of parts there is way few that are the same which makes it hard to build something consistently.

One thing I used to play with a lot as a kid is K'nex and when I was shopping for my nephews I noticed the same thing happened with those. It's all these tiny kits that cost a lot and only have a few generic parts and the rest are all very specific. Makes it hard to build anything else than what it was meant for. Kinda defeats the purpose.

I guess with 3D printers you can always make your own lego or k'nex now days, but guessing that is probably super illegal because of copyright and BS like that.

Make shelves out of legos... duh. Then invite over all the ladies.

Construx were awesome. Built so much stuff with those. Buildings, space ships, robots, armor and helmets, whatever.

Construx were fun as well, my brother and I built stuff with Construx all the time. It's too bad they aren't still around.

Me and my brother combined about two dozen castle themed sets to make GIANT castles.

Tons of hidden rooms, moats, tons of towers with archers, several layers of gates and draw-bridges to get in.

Then we'd tear it down and do it again, every time it was a different design. That shit never got old.

I'm talking 10+ years of collecting legos, with some handed down from older siblings.

We lost that fucking glow in the dark ghost on Christmas morning. Pretty sure it got tossed with some wrapping paper.

I always lost pieces to my various sets over time. I bet having to share with a sibling had to be absolute murder.

when I was a kid, I had a bucket of Legos.

we used our imagination to build stuff.

now you have sets like a Knight's Castle.
follow instructions to build it.

so you build it and play w/it a little while.
then what? take it apart and rebuild the same thing?

(The Death Star and Super Star Destroyer I understand.. but a generic castle?)

You're confused. They had castle / fort sets when I obsessed over the catalog in the late '80s / early '90s.

You buy sets. Build them. Play with them. Tear them down. Build something new / original. Play with it. Build your set again with the original directions. Play with that again. Wash. Rinse. Repeat until you lose too many pieces.

My brothers and I used to build basically cat cages out of them and then time how long it took the cat to get out of them. We would use those really small inch size pieces to reinforce areas. We had alot of fun, I don't think the cat cared too much for it, but after a while the cat quit trying to get out and the fun was over.

Here is a mechwarrior built out of them.
