Lego Rock Band

My son got Lego Rock band Wii for his birthday but the only instrument we have is a Guitar from PS3 Guitar Hero. Is this compatible?

Also if I bought Rock Band Special edition for PS3 would this be a) compatible with the Wii and 2) compatible with Lego Rock Band?

Thanks

Nope on both questions.

While you can use Rock Band and Guitar Hero peripherals almost interchangeably, they have to be for the same system. You can't use a PS3 peripheral on the Wii or vice versa.

ah that bites. But thanks for the quick response. Now I need to decide if I return LRB for Wii and get it for PS3 or buy Wii Rock Band instruments.

I'd probably get the PS3 version just because of the superior storage capabilities of the PS3.

You also may want to take downloadable content into consideration when making your decision. From what I understand, * Rock Band versions on the Wii cannot make use of the SD card for loading songs, so the number of songs you can have available to you at one time is limited to the Wii system memory. I don't know how many songs that actually translates to, but it's certainly smaller than what you could fit on even a 20GB PS3 hard drive.

You can load stuff from the SD memory cards now. Just not as ideal a solution as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Agreed. I would get the PS3 version over the Wii.

Oh and my family really loves this title. I know RB die hards probably hate it but for those of us with smaller kids (mine are 10 and 7) it's perfect. Songs are relatively family friendly and they have a lot of fun with their Lego characters (of course my kids have enjoyed all the Lego titles).

We have this for the 360. Could have done the wii version but the 360 version made more sense due to being able to use the GH guitars we already had + I got the RB1 drums (wired) for $8 from K-Mart and already had a mic from another game so my cost to get into it was pretty minimal.

I'd go for RB2 over RB1. The drums are built better and much quieter. I think the guitars are just about the same for the PS3 but I'm not sure, I've got the 360 version.

I wish there was a hack for Lego RB to enable any DLC to be used in the game. I'd totally start using that instead RB2 when I have RB nights.

At least on the 360, the other advantages of RB2 over RB1 instruments are that they are fully wireless (except the mic) and feature an auto-calibration mode which allows you to just hold your instrument in front of the TV/speaker to adjust for audio/video lag.

I also echo the sentiment that the RB2 drums are superior to the RB1 ones.

AFAIK, you cannot use Rock Band instruments on Guitar Hero for Wii.

I was really angry when they came up with lego rock band because I thought of that idea like in 2007. Hmmmmm....I could be rich.
