Ug. Lego has gone off the rails. Lego doesn't sell construction toys anymore, rather action figures and play sets that require some assembly. Its a shame that Lego went away from the set number of block types and built sets based on those to the current every set has custom blocks.

it is getting harder to find basic lego sets Like this. The "kits" are far to expensive. while neat i consider them more collectables then real toys.

We have got my son 4 of the kits i linked. For christmas this year i am building him a lego table and ordering a few large (as large as i can find) bundles of lego's. he will sit for hours building with them.

It's a shame to whom? Just you? Lego is having a record year. The Technic theme still exists, and Lego still sells buckets of those more simple bricks that you speak of.

guess it has something to do with this:

http://lego.cuusoo.com/#

1.Have an Idea?

Create a project, share your idea and see what other people think.
2.Get 10,000 Supporters

With 10,000 supporters, your idea will be reviewed by LEGO® for a chance to become an official LEGO® product.
3.Receive Royalty

If the project passes the review, it will be produced and you as the idea owner will receive 1% of the total net sales of the produce. See the guideline for more detail.

I for one will be investigating the Hobbit/LoTR models when they come out. A lot of the fancy model sets are cheezy, but some are awesome.

I buy lego blocks & pieces at garage sales, cheap.
