Legit Windows 7 activation and BIOS/Hardware updates

Hi,

I've finished building my system, a sandy bridge 2500K with an Asus P8P67 EVO, and my next step is to intall the operating system, in this case the Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM.

Regarding the activaion process, I have some questions that probably someone can help me with:

1. Will the activation process of windows7 change in any way the BIOS, to store some activation info?

2. If I update the BIOS, or some hardware on my machine, will it fall back to require activation? And will I be able to do it?

3. If my mobo fails and I have to get a new one, and I get a complete diferent one (brand, chipset, ...), re-format HDD and install everything, will I be able to activate the OEM windows7 again? Or that change will force me buying a new windows license?


I'm a legit user here, but by giving 100€ to Micro$oft, at least I hope to get a trouble free OS that allows upgrading without having to buy a new license.

About the trouble free part, I know what you're thinking, but putting another OS in this machine is NOT an option for working purposes I have my linux laptop .

2) 95% of the time no, but I have had it ask for re-activation when changing a hard drive or ram, if it does, it will reactivate with no issues
3) as per the license no, as its tided to the "computer" which is usually the motherboard, but people still do it.

Won't they allow you to re-activate if the motherboard is replaced as a result of hardware failure?

I'm not sure what the 'legal' definition is, but I rarely have it ask to re-activate unless it's a major change. Sometimes even changing the motherboard hasn't set it off.

Activation isn't really much of a hassle usually.
