Legit Half Life CD-Key Question

How many people can play Counter Strike online at the same time with one CD Key? I have heard 1, 2 and 5. Also...is it true that they lock an IP for two hours after you stop playing so that no other IP with the same CD Key can play?

Also, I was wondering if the future versions of counter strike are going to be free or if it's a good investment buying the retail version.

Future are going to be free, of course... it is a mod that is being Valvified to idiots who are stupid enough to pay $30 for something downloadable for free now and always.

Well, if you don't buy Counter-Strike you have to buy Half-Life and then downloadthe mod, so it's not REALLY free either way.

there is a way to get around that...you can have as many people using the same cdkey as you want

You can play with 2 I beleive if one person is connected to the WEST WON and the other EAST WON servers.

you can have 3 people playing at the same time, there are 3 won servers, west, east, and central.

since CS threads are scorned here if they become numerous, i thought i'd just ask a quick question here... does anyone know how i can fix "error in client.dll" when i try to connect to play CS?... i re-installed CS and it didn't help = P... do i have to wipe it all and re-install half-life and CS?

all of you are somewhat correct...when half life first came out, 5 people could use the cd-key at any given time...then with the next version, only 3 people could use it. all new versions of the cd-key can only be used by one person now.

It is a free download, but only if you have BOUGHT Half-Life. One way or another you're going to be paying for it. Better to buy Half-Life and get single-player in addition to any mods you want to download.
