The really good auctions you have to be a dealer. Others are usually smaller and sell older cars.


I got my CTS and my SiL Audi A4 from auction and went with a dealer. i think he charged 4% fee on the final price.

I got my car through a high volume after-auction dealer, it was a ~1500 lower than the lower private party within 250 miles and it had full dealer maintenance.
 
It's not as hard as you would think to get a dealer's license so some mechanics and junkyard owners have them. If you know anyone like that I would ask if you can go with them.
