Legal rights when one is jailed?

This guy was sodomized when he was serving a few days for a drug offence.
1) I didn't know there is such a thing as "weekend" jail. Apparently, this guy was serving four weekends only.
2) Isn't the sheriiff (or whoever the jailer is) supposed to prevent things like this?
3) Note to self: Do NOT EVER do anything that may result in jail time, however short 😕

He could have told he had an STD. Made something up. Personally, I think there's something not entirely clear with this story (or as they say in prison, legend). Who could be afraid of being killed with a ballpoint pen? C'mon, poke me with it. I don't give a crap about it. Then, he was 19, and the man was 35, meaning he was basically older, slower, and weaker. I think this story doesn't hold water.

You do know that pen can go thru your eyes or throat pretty easily right? As for physical strength between the 19 vs 35, those are very generalized statements. Also, have you consider that the older man got a jump on that kid when he wasn't expecting it?

Number one, a sexual predator doesn't care if you have an STD... he is in jail for previous sexual offenses and probably has many years left on his sentence.

Two, you can kill someone with a ball point pin as easy as knife... shove one into someone's throat. It won't be a "poke" as you put it... blood comes gushing out as when the tip penetrates the skin, such force is required to push it through the other layers, the veins and artieries are literally torn apart. These torn arteries aren't easily fixeable and the victim will most like died from all the blood that escapes down this throat into his lungs, not from the blood loss.
 
If that was me the minute I walked into the cell I would've started to talk to myself, pretend to see people and probably sh1t my paints a few times.

Anything under an ounce here in CA is supposed to be a misdemeanor, sort of like getting a parking ticket.

Edit: Is it really true that a pill of X found in your possession is good for 10 years? I swear I heard this before but can't recall if it's bunk or not.

Also this 19yr old kid was probably scared as hell. Maybe this 19yr old is real small and easy to take advantage of? Obviously this 35 yr old had big advatages and was probably comfortable being where he is.

texas you can be locked up for up to 2 years with < 1 oz
