So my friend had a metal folding char. He took it and threw it over an overpass next to some railroad track. About 30 feet from that is a freeway. Well someone saw him *no suprise* and called the cops. They didnt charge me but i think they said it was a class c felony. Does anyone know how long he will be looking at.

Felonies usually carry a minimum of one year. However, it will depend on his priors, his attitude, and his piss poor aim. How do you miss a freaking railway? He should do some big time groveling with a heavy dose of contriteness.

Search for your state's criminal code and its penalties for a class c felony. You got the law at your fingertips, just like any lawyer.

But it'll really depend on your friend's lawyer's skill, the prosecutor's mood, your friend's priors, etc.

Dumping near a railroad track or interstate is serious felony action. Don't do that.

Robert A. Heinlein"Stupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim can't help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal, and execution is carried out automatically and without pity."
Get smarter friends or you'll wind up sharing the results of their follies.

If he hasn't been caught being this brand of stupid before, he'll probably get off with a warning.

True. But next time, he's gonna be up sh!t creek without a paddle. OP, you better be sure you're not with him when it happens.

And you KNOW it will happen.

What was he aiming at? The track? If so, he should be taken out back and shot.
