ok, heres the problem. two years ago i took a trip to europe. while i was there i took a short flight to italy through a european airline. there were some problems with the transaction, and I took the flight, but they never charged my credit card. Now it is two years later, and they have contacted me asking for authorization to take the money from my credit card. It has been two years, and I had just forgotten about it. In fact, the credit card they have is one I have since cancelled. If I decide to not pay, can they report it to a credit agency (being that they are not located in the U.S.)? Are there any laws about the length of time before a transaction becomes void? Anyone have any hints to help me around this?

i will pay if it is necasary, but i think it is crappy that they waited two years to contact me. poor business practice

Not only poor business practice, but it's a hardship now. You plan and save for a trip, take the trip, and find out 2 years later that some of it didn't get paid? WTF?

If you've got the money, pay it. You *did* receive the service. But if it will cause a problem, suggest to the airline that it's too late and you do NOT authorize it.

You could have contacted and paid them at the time of course.

a decent expense to not be expecting
You did expect it then though and then carried on I guess saying to yourself "Wow they still haven't charged my CC!" probably told friends about it, etc. and now two years later are like "oh damn I guess I do have to pay it afterall."

I would GUESS that they have little recourse IF you don't want to pay for a service that you used and agreed to pay for at the time.

i know, i did expect to pay at the time, but then they didnt charge me. so then, yeah, i thought i had gotten away with a fast one. and now i should pay, and plan to, but am just wondering if there is any sort of law like a "statute of limitations" that pertains to business transactions? and further, if a foreign company can go to an american credit agency and affect your credit?

you are saying u will pay ..yadda yadda yadda... but from your postings it looks like you have decided you want to try and get away with not paying and if you can get away with it...so just tell them no

i do want to get away with it if i can, but will pay if i have to. id like to just say no, but im trying to figure out here if there would be any repurcussions, or if there are laws that would protect me and allow me to say no and be legally protected.
