Hi, about a month ago I bought somthing for $500, and have a 1 year yarrenty and all.

but the problem is that I lost the receipt for it. So i went to that store and asked them if they can make a copy of the orginal receipt that they have. and they said no.

So i'm wondering if there is any law or somthing that will enforce them to give me a copy of my orginal receipt or am i just out of luck???? i mean do they have the rite not to give me a copy of it...since i lost mine?

any helps would be appreciated.

Was it Best Buy? . . . if so you are out of luck.

Circuit City would probably help you. It depends on the store. It takes some effort to look up a receipt even with the date and time. CompUSA helped me when mine blew away in Hawaii (it was the same day).

It is really your responsibility to safeguard your receipt. I always scan mine and back up to CD-RW (in case the HD dies). And try to keep your copies other than at your house in case it burns down so you can get more complete insurance coverage).

Of course you can ask. I don't know if they have to provide though.

Um, in Australia here, but I couldn't find my receipt for my DVD player after it broke and I needed it for warranty. The shop I bought it from simply faxed me a new one when I rang them up. But your milage may vary...
