Legal and natural smoking mix / herb to take the edge off?

Weird question, but I recently quit smoking pot and am now transitioning off of cigarettes too (ecig for now). I also don't drink and my fat ass is trying to lose weight at the same time - based on the shouting match I got into with a crossing guard this morning, I think I may be trying to quit too much too fast :)

Are their any natural smoking blend sorta stuff (without synthetic's added) that just take the edge off a bit after a stressful work day? I remember having a bowl of some hippy dippy stuff years ago that just left me feeling nice and mellow, but I don't remember the name.

Herbs - smokable or in tea form, whatever works! Note I'm not looking for a synthetic pot substitute, those things scare me.

Thanks!

Smoking Shisha while getting a blowjob takes the edge off better than anything else I've ever tried.

Weed has a long history of empirical safe use, and a reasonable amount of scientific study that shows it's safe. Why would you use a mystery substance that has had little amateur or professional testing? Aside from that, smoking anything isn't the best for your lungs, and a chemical analysis of unburned material won't necessarily reflect the content of burned material. IOW, smoking something could be worse for you than a quick look would indicate.

Don't get me wrong, I love pot I just became a daily smoker and it wasn't fair to our family budget (and I think it messed with my sleep schedule quite a bit). I don't want to smoke anything chemical, just something a native american might have smoked that's mellow but doesn't necessarily get you high. This probably doesn't exist :) I swear I smoked some herb that was just the nice dash of mellow. Blue something? Oh well, I bet it was just laced with something :)

Well, there's opium :^D

If it were me, I'd try to regulate quantity, and just cut back on the weed. There's some teas that I think are supposed to be relaxing, but they're on the periphery of my knowledge. You might want to look in that direction.

Edit:
There's kava tea. I neither use nor endorse it, but I know of it's existence. You may want to look into that.

Stay with pot. Anything else is less studied, less effective, and most likely less safe.

As far as 'smoking stuff to chill' is concerned, marijuana is your best/safest option. Unless for legal/job reasons, pot should be your go to stuff if it's available. If you are quiting pot to quit smoking stuff 'as harsh as pot' then there's nothing else for you.

Why are you stopping pot? Because you want to stop smoking?

I had the same fight.. I like pot, but I'm 32 now, and my lungs don't appreciate it like the used to.

After pondering my options, and knowing the only truly bad thing about smoking pot was smoking it, I decided to buy a basic, handheld vaporizer. There's quite a few out there, but I wanted to spend less than $100 to make sure it was 'for me'. I ended up getting the magic flight launch box, which is a very basic vape but works rather well for what it is.

Not only is it far more efficient with my stash, you can reuse the vaped weed in edibles. You can vape an eighth of pot and get more out of it.. and then you can use what's left. I discovered 'firecrackers' which are basically 'vaped' weed enfused nutella spread on gram crackers. Just one with 2 small bowls worth of vaped weed will put you on your ass.

Net effect is over the past month, my breathing is remarkably easier. I'm coughing a bunch of shit up, but I'm not nearly as congested. My lungs love it. The vapor is totally harmless and it tastes better too!

If OP is trying to work out and lose weight, the last thing he needs to be doing is smoking anything. You want the maximum amount of lung capacity you have available to be able to exercise more effectively and not feel winded. Smoking ciggs and even pot will negatively affect your workout.

What I would do is perhaps transition to a different method of partaking in mj. You can always make brownies. Or you can make weed butter. Grind up some trees into some melted butter and simmer it on very low heat for a long time. The longer the more THC transfers into the butter. You can strain the trees out of the butter at this point or leave them in. Cool the butter in the fridge and make a snack when u wanna chill out.

Not sure what the strength of trees is that you have available. But the general rule of thumb that I followed is 1/8 oz finely ground to 1 stick of butter. YMMV so start out small and eat small amounts until you know the strength...it really is possible to dose too much and get super-stoned by eating it which is no longer fun and relaxing.

Kava tea sounds like just want I need, will give it a try! You're right about moderation instead of abstinence, I think a few more days off to get rid of that behavior I worry is addictive and maybe limiting it to stressful work days can't be all that bad (it's decriminalized here in NY so don't ban me mods!)

Well, the primary reason was that I was dropping $100 every week and a half and feeling quite guilty about it, and I just didn't like being in my 30s and "needing" something to sleep - felt like an addict (which I know, weed isn't addictive). Funny thing is that just a short time off and I'm getting to sleep easier without it.

I used a vap for a while but maybe mine was crappy - I'd end up with a burning taste no matter how much I fiddled with the temp setting. As somoene else mentioned edibles might be my best option (I quit smoking cigs for my lungs but there's so little evidence that pot smoking does much damage that I don't feel much guilt hitting a bong)

He wants a legal alternative to pot, dumbasses!

IIRC, he has a real job & likely subject to drug testing, unlike all you basement dwellers!

He said legal because he wants something legal, however, weed itself being illegal isn't really the problem since there's already a market. You're not going to find an underground market for some random herb no one's heard of.

Need for legal is a need to be able to purchase.

Arnold disagrees with you. It is a great way to relax the muscles after a workout, which promotes repair.

Partaking in pot is one thing. It's the act of smoking that is harmful to lung capacity and makes exercise harder. I'm saying he should partake in other ways that don't involve smoke.

There are a lot of natural herbal smokes out there. If you simply search, you will find plenty of sites willing to sell to you. I've tried a few, and in my experiences they work very well. Most are not like pot at all, I've had some interesting experiences in the past.

I haven't used any in a long enough time that I can't recommend anything. But search, you'll start to see a few types mentioned over and over. You can search that type of herbal smoke blend to see what kind of experiences people have had. Some mixes relax you, some mimic illegal drugs, and others are their own unique experience.

My suggestion would be to find a site that sells a sampler/combo, many of them do. You could try different types that way and settle on something you like. You can even ask about mixing blends you like. Good luck!

Neither smoking pot or cigarettes reduces stress. You won't be free of either till you realize that.

Dope free since 2003
Smoke free since 2009

If you need to "take the edge off", the best answer is to just drink a couple of beers or have a glass of wine. If you're worried about your calorie intake, just watch the rest of your diet and work out extra hard :)

How many days ago did you quit?

I think you should discuss the effects of THC withdrawal. That's what you're going through btw.

How are your dreams now that you're actually entering REM sleep?
