[EDIT]--> Problem Fixed, see below
------------------------
Have PC converted from Win98 to W2K. All hardware is OK, except old ISA parallel port card (non PNP). Card recognized in BIOS - shows at address 278-27A standard for LPT2 and works fine in Win98.
In W2K it is not visible and if I try to put it manually it tells me that "ISAPNP Data read port" uses 279 address.
I can't switch card to different address - no jumper settings manual.

I need this card, because MP3 player my kid uses has parallel port connection only and it is not good to disconnect printer every time...

The only option I am thinking - get USB to parallel adapter, but it cost at least $30...

Any ideas???

I'm sure if you go to the manufacturer's website you can find a manual or jumper settings for your specific card.

This is generic ISA card about 6-7 years old, no brand on it. I might have a manual somethere, but what settings I need to change? It set now for LPT2 (LPT1 on motherboard), Serial and Game disabled, No IRQ, No DMA.

Have you tried the Add/Remove Hardware wizard in the control panel...that should search for legacy isa devices. hth.

Switch box is not good, because, if I need print over network, I have to go to the box and check it.

Yes I did it, few times, no luck. Also this is a fresh install on empty HD, so W2K did all searches during setup. Port is not visible.

Finally fixed:

Found Jumper to move port to I/O address 378h (was 278h),
moved moverboard port to 3BCh (was 378h).
Manually added new device Printer port, and set address at 378h. Works fine! Thanks everyone.
