I just searched the Egg for one of these things and had no luck. I have an old school Microsoft flight stick with the game port, bbut my MOBO and Xfi don't have the port on them. I was hoping there exists something that can change it to USB. If all else fails, I do have a Soundblaster Live! card with Game Port built in that I could try to install in tandem with my Xfi.

I would just upgrade controllers, but honestly I don't play flight sims/arcade games enough to justify the cost. Thanks for any help!

NVM: I found a few on Amazon, etc. It's funny how if I don't find it on the Egg, I figure it must not exist or be too obscure for a Google search ;) They are a little expensive...it may be time to upgrade the flight stick after all.

Xman: please do let me know how that converter works out for you.

Pontifex: I'm still on XP Pro

It does NOT work for me. It says it has encountered an error trying to install the device and can't find drivers on Windows Update. I tried manually installing some drivers I found but these wouldn't work, either. I am using 64-bit, however. Don't know if that would make a difference.

I don't have a PC running Win98 . . . maybe that would work? I don't know.

So did mine, I just couldn't find it.

I returned the adapter to Amazon. I don't know if the MS version is available to buy anywhere; I can't find mine, and I can't find another online.

solution: I bought a $10 SB Live at a computer shop, installed it in my XP rig, and am playing the game on it. LOL.

Heh...I was going to suggest when I saw the thread title. Just grab any old PCI sound card. You can also disable all of the other sound components of the card in windows and still use your prefered sound card as well I'd think.

64-bit does make a difference for USB converter stuff. I have a friend who couldn't use a MIDI to USB converter in 64-bit XP.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? Thanks for the info on that USB converter Xman. I have an old SB Live! card laying around that I may just install to see if this works. I have an Xfi Extreme Gamer card installed now, so my concern would be compatibility issues between the two cards.

I've never heard of anyone doing it, but the theory seems sound to me. Device manager always includes several different "devices" for my live, each with their own driver. I'd imagine this would be the method least likely to encounter problems: Yank the x-fi, stick the live! card in, boot up, hop in device manager, right click on all the sound components that aren't the gameport | disable, shut down, drop in the x-fi, boot and load drivers.
