For me this game has been sooo awesome, and I usually hate zombie games! (I for one loathed playing Half-Life.. I just don't like that creepy factor. Having teammates with me makes all the difference).

And I love the little icing on the cake with the writing on the walls. It's almost surreal to see some of the messages in the safe houses. It kind of tugs at you a little bit if you imagine their backstories..

"Dan, the kids are safe, I love you so much!" -- Barbara

Really nice little touch there that really makes you feel more part of the game IMO 🙂

OMG this game is FUN!! 😀

Someone called the review that of fanboy's. Come on man, really. Valve is a collective genius that is simply unmatched. Their games are fun, engrossing, stable, fast, and full of detail that both jumps out at you, and begs for careful attention not to miss. There may be the repetitiveness. But what would it really be like if you were a survivor in a city overrun by zombies?

The character animation and AI is simply amazing. Take away the excellent graphics and pay attention to how the zombies move and react. I found myself just standing there watching as a group of zombies rounds a hallway corner running straight at me. Shadows in the dark, caught by glimpses of light, and then they're on you.

Thumbs WAY up on this one Valve. I got a brand new rig that's fast as hell; grabbing this game for burn-in was so worth it!!!

Today I played versus mode on what seemed to be expert. I didn't know you could change difficulties in versus. There was melee fatigue, you got knocked back much longer, and everything did more damage. No melee spamming changed everything.

Server admins sometimes change it to Z_difficulty expert when in versus mode, versus mode is usually normal difficulty i think. I hate when they screw with the difficulty settings, theres no way to join a normal server vs one thats been messed with.

Wonder how it would be if Valve managed to incrase the size of the levels by like, alot.

Imagine GTA style L4D 😀

yeah, servers can have different settings

one of them I noticed was if a hunter pounces someone who is really close to you, you get knocked away from them and are slow to recover and thus preventing the immediate bash retaliation to use to knock the hunter off almost immediately and thus preventing him from doing any damage at all.

I prefer the ones where the survivors have far more health (usually easy or normal) as people have picked up on how to successfully handle the infected so much so that any difficulty harder than normal usually ends up in teams trading slaughters by the infected, and thus the very low scoring games are determined by which teams can get the farthest as survivors.

L4D will be $19.95 at Amazon sometime on Friday!!!

It was 3AM Eastern/Midnight Pacific and sold out in less than 5 minutes.

I was one of the few lucky enough to get a copy.

So um, I guess that means I'll be getting my hands on that in a week or so, lol. I was pretty disappointed when the demo was deactivated (though probably good thing for the ol' GPA)
