Think this bears mentioning in the PC Gaming forum, Left 4 Dead is 50% off during the weekend deal on Steam starting today. This is my Game of the Year for 2008, along with Fallout 3, and well worth $50, at $25 it's a steal.

Honestly, it's the kind of game where the most fun comes out of playing a little sloppy sometimes, I've had way more fun thinking everyone was going to make it to the boat and then having us all get pulled down at the last minute than I've ever had actually getting on the boat.
 
Does anyone know when the Weekend Deals roughly end? Is it Sunday at 11:59P or does it change? I am in the process of retrieving my old account (about 3 years unused) which has been disabled. I am not sure if I will retrieve it in time (or at all) and therefore be forced to create a new account.

On that same dime, does anyone know if I can transfer pre-steam cd keys that were once on a now disabled account into a new account?

This is an awesome deal for those unfortunate ones who've been missing out on L4D.
 
No regrets that I paid $40, since this and TF2 represent most of my gaming for the last couple of months, but this is an excellent deal. Don't forget that a bit more content comes out this spring, as well as SDK tools.

Not everyone loves this, but many of us have loads of fun at it! Any of you good anandtech folks that hate being a noob in a game that's been out for a while are welcome to pm me for a guided tour of zombieland 🙂

I think this probably has something to do with F.E.A.R. 2 pushing Left4Dead out of the top spot this week on Steam. I bet real money that Left4Dead will be back top on pretty quickly with a deal like this. I know of 17 people personally who have bought it today since the weekend deal started, lol.

Already played the free weekend and was not terribly impressed. Its an above average team shooter, which isnt saying much.

Not worth 50 bucks and not really worth 25. If I get one more chance to play for free I may consider it.
 
Wow that is an awesome deal. I was pretty pleased with it when I got it for $38. You could argue it doesn't have the content to justify the $50 price tag. Though I have gotten tons of game time out of it already. I can see it getting stale, and the patches and new content is slower to come out and not what I hoped, but I think we can be pretty confident it will continue to get supported for a couple of years.

Lol it will not be 9.99, ever I'd say. TF2 was only 10 bucks once and it retailed for 30 or 40 when it came out. At 25$ I think this will be the best deal you'll see for months.
 
Definitely get it at this price. It's not worth full price but for $25, it's worth it and around the price it should have been when it was released.

Thank god I paid full price 2 months ago. I paid a 'premium' to play it earlier/longer, but this doesn't make me feel any better.
 
Finally! A long time ago. I said I'd pay for this game if it was for 29.99 it is definately not a 49.99 game for me.

24.99 is about the perfect price point for me to buy it.

Superb deal if you guys want to know really.

I myself was VERY lucky to receive L4D as a Gift from a friend, although I was certainly planning on buying it myself BUT only when its price would go down to around $30, because to be honest even if the game IS great, is DOES lack a LOT of variety in terms of missions/campaigns, weapons and unique bosses. Now, let's consider that the game has been out since a few months and that an upcoming update is going to add variety, new maps and perhaps a few more things that we're not aware of.

With that said I must say that if I hadn't received L4D as a Gift then I would have certainly bought it at $25, that price is EXACTLY what it's worth. It's like... a VERY well done full Half-Life 2 modification in my book (well of course, by using the exact same engine it certainly helps as well, but it's not only that). It IS a great game but I wouldn't have paid $50 for it, ever, but that's just me. Anyway, enough chitchat, $25 for Left 4 Dead is a GREAT deal that everyone should not only consider but take advantage of right now!

Stop reading this and go buy it!
