My son has a HP. Pentium 3 550 with 128 of generic pc 100. He recently installed the 32 DDR version of this card. It locks up under any 3D game or benchmark. It is set at the default settings of 200/333. Any help thanks.

You say the Geforce is at its defaukt 200/333.
Is the PIII overclocked or not ?
If it is, the FSB speed might be too high for the card, especially if you use a MB with a BX chipset that lacks the 1/2 AGP divider.

I working with my son over the phone. Not sure which board he has but one of the bridges says ASUS, I'm assuming thats the manufacture. The other bridge says SMSC. He could not locate any other markings. The 550 is not overclocked and the memory has not been messed with. At another cite someone suggested trying the DET 2 5.32 drivers. He down loaded them and still has same problem. I have AMD stuff so I'm not up on Intel sys's.

First of all, I doubt it is overclocked if it is an HP, so don't even pursue that Donuts. A little more info is needed though.

Is it locking up after a certain amount of time or immediately after you launch a game?

Are you getting artifacting before lockup?

What drivers are you using?

You should use the nVidia 6.18 reference drivers and if the card is locking up after using it for a bit, your problem is most likely heat related. Try to take the cover off the box for better airflow and see if it still locks. HP cases suck for airflow. If if locks immediately, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. If it still is a problem, try it in a different machine to determine if it is the card. Leadtek has a history of heat problems in their design.
