LED ZEPPELIN mp3 project

glen

Lifer
Disclaimer:
I own almost everything they have done, all the Cd?s, 3 of the box sets, all the Albums on Vinyl, the gosh awful ?Song Remains the Same? movie on VHS, and even the fairly rare 45?s of Candy Store Rocks and The Immigrant (the B side has Hey Hey What can I do, and was the only way to get that song for years)

If we can get a group of folks together, that really own the music and are not Pirates of the Atlantic (records) ?lol and then each person can just do one album with a nice EAC rip and 192 bit encode, this will not be too big of a project.

If anyone has any suggestions to make this work and keep it legit, let me know.

I am interested in coming up with one Led Zeppelin MP3 disc.
I think it can be done at around 150 songs.

In order for it to be manageable, we need to make each album a folder.

Now, since it is a data disc, the songs always end up in some goofy order unless you number them, and even then you have to start at 01, 02.

(In addition, I am not sure if I also need to label the folders this way also - for instance:
01 Led Zeppelin, 02 Led Zeppelin II, 05 Houses of the Holy, and so forth)

I believe this is
1 - All the material really worth putting on the disc and
2- The best way to organize it:

I already have my Led Zeppelin mp3 disc. That was the first one I did. I own all of their regular CDs and a few of their "Sessions" CDs with interviews and stuff. I also have a few DVDs of live concerts. I don't have any of the box sets, because I already have all the regular CDs, so it is kind of pointless.

One of my favorite songs: The Battle Of Evermore 😀

In fact, I have Led Zeppelin II in my CD drive now at work. 🙂

Edit: I also have Early Days and Latter Years. (do you?) They are just another greatest hits type album.

someone posted a discography couple months back on one of the main torrent sites. never checked it out because it was so huge. it was probably compiled from several different d/led sources. i'd rather see your project done since it'll all be in the same encoding/quality etc. i vote for a complete collection though.

i have the 4 disc set, led zepplin. i could rip it, if you need it.

however, i dont have, lame, or eac installed, and had problems with them last time (yep i know, i forgot the patch) but hey. ill do it.

MIKE

I can rip whatever you want, but I think it will be difficult to determine who gets rights to it and who actually has the CDs.

ok, I listed the songs we want, unless someoen ahs a huge problem, go with my list.
It is all the albums, plus the bonus tracks from the 10 disk box set.
So, the rip should be from that 10 disk box set.
Then someoen rip the HTWWW dissk, and we are covered.
the only thing I changed was, I named the disks from the box set therie real names, ie. Houses of the Holy rather than Disk 5 as it si in the box set.

Unfortunately, it's still not legit, even if you own the vinyl and CD's. It's only legal if you own it and rip it from what you own (not that I agree with that).

DO you have eac and a decent encoder installed and the 10 disck box set - that remasterign is the best IMHO?

Heh, nice idea glen. The very first thing I did when I got my new burner was to make my Zep mp3 cd's. I have everything legit that they came out with, not to mention quite a few goodies that I picked up from some friends that handle bootleg Zep stuff. 😉

We are using the 10 disk box set for most rips.

Each person pick a disk and rip it with eac, and encode with eac use lame at 192 it is good enough.

Then AIM it to me.

Once I ahve all pieces. i will tag and rename and get it all standard, and burn it to a disk with nero
then I will mail a copy out to each person who sent an album.
So call dibs on your albums now basied upon the list in my first post.
The point is to have a good quality, so nobody send in some crap stolen of kazaaa at 128 nbit rate or what ever please.

So far, I have this one rippped, encoded, and tagged in the standard format:

Led Zeppelin
01. Good Times Bad Times
02. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
03. You Shook Me
04. Dazed And Confused
05. Your Time Is Gonna Come
06. Black Mountain Side
07. Communication Breakdown
08. I Can't Quit You Baby
09. How Many More Times

Virtually all my Zep is on cassette or vinyl. Old tapes are completely unrippable. 🙁

I've been wanting my stuff on CD but hate the idea of paying for the stuff again.

I hope we acan get this done before Christmas, then I cna have everythign mailed out to folks right around new years.

My problem as well...so in the meantime I feel there is nothing wrong using p2p to download music....I have somewhere between 200-300 cassette tapes..
