LED mod on my CDRW

I want to change the LED on my CDRW. But there is a problem. The LED has 3 pins instead of the typical 2 and it contains 3 colors: red when burning, green when reading, and amber on standby. I want to change the LED to blue but the blue LED only contain two pins. What am I suppose to do? My friend told me that if I just solder just 2 out of the 3 pins, it might only flash when reading and won't flash when burning OR vice versa. Need help!

The 3 pin LED is actually 2 LEDs in one - there is a green LED and a red LED.

The middle pin is connected to both LEDs (usually the negative end), with the 2 positives left seperate - this way, they can be turned on individually, or together (producing amber).

You can replace it with a blue LED, but it will only light when one of the colours is active. E.g. if you connect it in place of the green, it will be on during standby and reading and off while burning. Similarly, if you connected in place of the red, then it will be on during standby and burning, and off while reading.

You could replace it with 2 LEDs, but you might not have space.
