I have settled on an LED LCD for our new house. We are supposed to have a walk through in late January so it's time to seriously start looking to buy.

So my first question is, does anyone think there will be major price drops on any LED LCD TV's between now and the end of January? And secondly, is there a place to see "historical" pricing of an item so that I can see how much the thing has been and know what the current "bottom" is?

EDIT:
Can anyone comment on backlit vs edge lit? The Samsungs seem to be the best on the market, but it's almost $1000 to go from the edge lit 7 series to the backlit 8 series. Is that really worth it?

No, I don't think you will see many price decreases between now and 45 days from now. You might actually see prices go up slightly after Christmas (or at least not as many "sales" where standard price stays the same).

Around the superbowl there are often really good sales. I got my LCD a few years ago one week before the superbowl for several hundred off, plus 0% financing for 2 years... Since that is early February, it is a little late for you, but maybe you can wait.

LED LCD is a bit of a mismatch, that term is going to be trouble when LED displays are common.

Price drops, not in the near future. LED prices for the actual diodes are pretty stable and no real major manufacturing methods have come out, so not likely to change.
